Randoming101
I think I have gone slightly crazy trying to fix my Skyrim game. I've spent hours trying to find a solution to my problemI would like to state that I am in no way and expert in modding, computers, etc. So my issue is that Skyrim crashes after certain things happen. 1. When loading/saving a game. 2. After playing for 1-5 mins the game crash/freezes. Those are the "symptoms" I have found so far. I have three save files (all the same character), two of which are affected. One is inside a building so exiting is impossible due to the load crash while the other is right outside that building but whenever I try to just wander in the open world, the game will freeze after a while forcing me to END TASK. The third save file is a really old save of the character where this problem does not occur. I have a lot of mods installed but after installing a group of them (not sure which) my game started acting like this. I tried to pinpoint the mod to no avail. My Skyrim is also up to date. The only way I think the entire issue I might have happened is because I did not uninstall a mod that I did not need correctly. Advice and help are definitely appreciated as well as needed. Thanks
Georgiegril
It sounds to me like you have a load order problem (maybe other things, too, but load order is a good place to start.) First: Download and use BOSS. It is a regular program. You can get it here, and there is a video about using it here. It is pretty easy though if you choose the file with the installer--just download, install like regular program. IWhen you set it up, choose the option for it to generate a text file log (rather than html). Read the log and address all of the messages it gives you about compatibility, master files, etc. You may be able to get away with not cleaning your mods so ignore the TES5Edit messages for the moment. You will need to hand place the mods BOSS doesn't recognize, The best way to do this is to go back to the mod author's page and follow the load order instructions they provide. If they don't provide any, you can try placing similar type mods together. After that, try to play again. If your problems persist, copy/paste the BOSS log to a post, and then also include information about your computer resources (especially CPU, RAM, VRAM, Graphics card, driver, and any changes you made to the graphics card settings for skyrim), and game information (especially game graphics settings and any changes you made to your .ini and/or prefs.ini files) All that info can take up a lot of space, so you can enclose things in spoiler tags, which you will find in the top toolbar, third button from the left. jjb54
You likely have a MOD that conflicts with another MOD ... I had this happen and it drove me 'crazy' too. I finally had to do the "HUNT AND PECK" method and found there were indeed two mods that did NOT like each other. BOSS is a great program and I use it and like it. But it cannot tell you when two mods are in conflict of each other. Also another challenge I found is one of my mods required SkyUI and I was unaware of that program at the time. I got it and the CTD vanished. But I would strongly suggest that you have two (or more) mods that simply do NOT like each other.

Georgiegril
If you are not seeing anything in BOSS, then indeed you may have to hunt for the issue. Rereading all of the information for all of your mods (readme, discussion page, everything)may prevent you from having to blindly disable mods (which can cause new problems.) Posting the information I suggested may help you save time if others notice something (a conflict they had themselves, a problematic ini setting, etc). Good luck

Trust me - been there done that and YES it sucks, big time. >:( Let's take this though "Step-by-step": First - Go through all your MODS - On-line and see that you have all the requirements that they list: IE: Do they require and/or state they will need or will not work with the current DLC list:... Dawnguard ... Dragonborn ... Hearthfires .... Do they require another MOD?... SKSE ... SkyUI ... or another 2nd party Mod? While you are doing this - also do a quick (not too quickly) scan of dialog's of other subscribers of that MOD - any similar issues - problems and likely Solutions? Then engage the "hunt and Peck". Also remember it could be more than 1 mod too.

Another thing is to search through the comments of the mod author, Readme, or descriptions to check if there's compatibility issues or just random bugs that cause freezes.
