What weapons do npcs use the best. I am reverse pickpocketing big town and want to give them the best weapons they can use. They don't seem to be doing to well with assault rifles, scoped 44 magnum, combat shotguns, and miniguns.

I don't think Fallout3 understands that reverse pickpocket can sometimes be the player trying to offer an item & not a hostile action, if you can I'd recommend using Sharing and Caring Companions . Or they could have low weapon skills

I personally noticed that almost any npc besides the factions have GREAT handling with energy weapons. I don't know why, but they do.

By the way, if you're wondering why gatling laser may be inaccurate, it's big guns not energy weapons. I have had many followers, such as jericho. He lost his chinese assault rifle and I gave him a combat shotgun. He died. I reloaded, and gave him simply a laser pistol. He hit everything in the eyes... lol.

Be sure to use the speech option to train the teenagers at bigtown to use the guns. Otherwise they have trouble hitting the ground when they fall down.

I trained them in weapons. Maybe it wasn't the best option. Maybe mines or robots would have been better. They also blow each other up with the mininuke. It seems random npcs get the mininuke. Or is it hidden somewhere.

If you're using the PC version, use the "getav ____" where the blank is filled by a skill name or S.P.E.C.I.A.L. attribute (ex. "getav smallguns") of the targeted thing. See what they're best with and equip them accordingly.

Thanks. I think I will also try to mod their suit skills and give them less common suits like roboco. I might also change their npc layouts. The cowardly value doesn't quite work well with weapons because they just run away. I think I will try to change their confidence, stats (small guns, etc...), base health and maybe combat style settings. All the players seem to be default combat settings.
