renic1000000
I think that somebody should make a mod that adds a bank and hideouts in skyrim. How it would work: The mod would add a bank into the world (could be 1 in every city or a central bank, it would need to be its own building) that you can rob. You could either try to be stealthy by sneaking in (possibly by sewer or vents or just sneaking past guards) or go in heavy and try to fight your way to the vault. Also the mod would add a series of Helmets/masks (helmets being heavy armor and masks being light armor) that would allow you to rob the bank without getting a bounty whilst wearing it. (would be a mask for every armor type) There could also be a option if you are going in hard you can bring hostage ropes that would allow you to tie up the civilians (civilians in the bank would not attack only the bank guards). When you have tied up all the civilians you can talk to any tied up npc and order him/her to bring everyone to a room of your choice. When you get into the vault you will need to lockpick it (it would be a master lock) and get the money/gems. However after you have robbed the bank you will need to go to a hideout (will be around the map but you will need to kill the bandits that inhabit it before it can be used) and wait 2 days before you are able to return to the city without being attacked by guards. Alternatively you could capture somebody and hold them in one of your hideouts until the city/town you took them from pays their ransom. (could be forced or tricked into coming) Again you will need to use a mask/helmet and wait 2 days for the heat to die down. During the time you are holding your hostage (1-3 days) you can be attacked by guards attempting to rescue the hostage. When this happens you can either fight them off and continue the ransom or kill the hostage to set an example. (killing hostages while guards are trying to rescue them decreases the likely hood of future rescue attempts. on the other hand, killing your hostage when nobody is attacking increases the odds of a rescue attempt. also there will be a chance of the city not paying the ransom which allows you to choose whether or not to kill the hostage or let them go. killing them will increase the likely hood of them paying the next time were as letting them go decreases the likely hood of them paying. Additionally if the ransom is paid you can choose to kill the hostage or return them, killing them increases the likely hood of rescue attempts and decreases the likely hood of cities/towns paying the ransom in the future. However returning them when a ransom is paid increases the likely hood of future ransoms being paid. Addition features for dlc:Dawnguard:Vampire castle able to be used to store hostages and hideout in after bank robberiesCan choose to enslave hostage as a vampire cattle instead of returning after ransom or killing if no ransom is paid or failed rescue attempt. (effects are the same as killing them in the given situation) Hearthfire:Can use player homes to hold hostages and hideout after bank robberies Dragonborn:Can travel to morrowind after bank robberies to avoid capture. (any place in morrowind would work)

Pevey
I seriously considered adding a bank to Skyrim for an economics-themed mod I'm working on. But then I decided it didn't really fit with Skyrim. The closest thing Skyrim has is the Treasury House, in corrupt Markarth, which hoards all the money and pays pittances to the workers. So, perhaps you could rob the Treasury House? :) "And I sincerely believe, with you, that banking establishments are more dangerous than standing armies; and that the principle of spending money to be paid by posterity, under the name of funding, is but swindling futurity on a large scale." Oh, what poor Thomas Jefferson would think of his country today.
allthegoodnamesrtaken
how about starting small and just allowing the player to mug npcs like those thieves that occasionally stop the player.

Alexander2199
I am not sure if there were banks in this era but i would surely be happy if jarls had safes and small treasury houses to store the royal jewels!!! So then you could steal them and take hostages (even the jarl would be pretty awesome ) because they will have to pay

Daggerfall: 3E 405Skyrim: 4E 201 It's just whether Skyrim ever adopted that sort of monetary handling system - which is unlikely on it's own, but seeing as it was an Empire state, then it might have at one point. The treasury house in Markarth leads me to think it did at some point, at least for dealing with interstate trade.
