TheGamerdude535
Soooo I had to make a new account. I was simply on here as gamerdude535. And the reason I had to make a new account was because I no longer had access to the Email I made my original account on. And âSupportâ was of no help to me whatsoever. When the site wanted me to validate an email I could not access. Because the email site I used, Excite.com had deleted my email without my permission and knowledge of it. Found out after trying to access it because they announced they were ending their free email service at the end of the month. So yeah through no fault of my own I lost that email. I was done wrong by my old email plain and simple And the âsupportâ team would just not help me in anyway shape or form. In these circumstances that I had absolutely no control over. They wouldnât do something as simple as changing the email the account was linked to. Claimed they couldnât verify me and couldnât do anything. Like as if someone who wanted to steal accounts wouldnât just hack the website to do it It sucks because Iâm a longtime fan and user. I had an otherwise pleasant experience with Nexus Mods but the lack of support was just straight up appalling. I really think some things really need to change. What happened to me should never have happened.
Guest deleted34304850
imagine that this wasn't a gaming mod site, but your bank.imagine that someone calls up your bank and gives them your tale of woe. imagine your bank takes the caller at their word and resets everything and sends all your details to some email account that you don't know about.imagine that. what they have done is 100% correct. if they hadn't done that, then they would have breached lord knows how many industry standard security protocols. the burden of proof of identity is on you and you alone. if you lose your means of providing that proof, then there's nothing anyone can do to help you. you cannot shift your lack of diligence on to anyone else. this should remind you that you need to take care of all your identities that are on the internet and make sure, through various means, that you have backups of your data that you can use to identify yourself. if i were you, i'd be grateful that it was only a logon to a game mod site and not something way more important. kudos to nexusmods support here - they did the right thing by denying you. fix your own processes. TheGamerdude535
Yeeeeeah no. They could have figured something out instead of just flat out refusing to help me. Donât defend this when they can and should do better. Bank accounts are a bad comparison because they donât use nothing but information that you can just suddenly permanently lose for just no reason with no way of recovering it. Guest deleted34304850
again, the burden of proof is on you.if you can't provide your information how is that anyone's problem, except yours?the comparison with bank accounts can be any account you care to mention. bank account, supermarket account, anything that has your identity on it.you have to protect your data and nexusmods' stance helps you to do that. accept it or don't, that's how this works. fix your own processes and look after your data. Pickysaurus
If you account included no data we could use to recovery it, we cannot help you. I'm afraid we store very little personal information on each account by default so access to the email tends to be the only way we can know for sure you are the account owner. See all possible options here: https://help.nexusmods.com/article/108-account-recovery Although I suspect none of them applied to you (as we include this link in our email support responses).
