Custom Weapon Help

Hey all,

 

I'm new to these parts, so I'm not sure if I'm in the right place, but I'm trying to mod and I'm having trouble...

 

 

So, I busted open the Old World Blues .bsa and pulled out the texture for the LAER, then edited it and saved it as a .dds with mipmaps and so on. Fairly sure the texture will work, but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to apply it. I can make a custom weapon in the GECK, but I don't know how to get a custom texture to appear in the GECK. Do I add it to the .bsa somehow? FOMM won't let me do that, so I'm pretty sure that's not the issue. Lots of sources say to drop it in the textures folder, but I don't have one of those, just a textures .bsa (and I'm fairly sure this should go in the Old World Blues specific .bsa)

 

It's jusy a recolour and some detailing, nothing fancy, but it would put happiness in my heart if I could get this working.

 

Any ideas?

You need to create the folders in your Fallout New Vegas data folder.

 

Data > Textures > NVDLC03 > Weapons > 2handautomatic > paste .dds files

 

If you don't have those folders make them.

Will it make you hold your forehead and go "ugh..." if I inform you that I have no idea what Archive Invalidation is? Or does?

 

A precursory google reveals that it's a utility.

 

It supposedly invalidates archives.

We all start somewhere no worries. FOMM has the utility built in go to Tools and toggle Archive Invalidation off and on (should be a check next to it when on). It just makes it so new textures work properly.
