Editing .nif Files?

Alright, I was originally asking a different question, but found out my problem: I was seeing a completely pure white mesh without any shading whatsoever because I didn't fetch the file from my BSA.

So, here's what I'll ask instead: What bsa includes the character assets? It seems that "Meshes" only has male hair. No female hair, no male skeleton, nothing of the sort. Just male hair and non-character stuff.

I'm not normally one to double post, but I discovered the problem pretty quickly.

For the sake of easy googling, lemme bust out a few phrases:

Can't find Skyrim skeleton nif

Model does not show proper shading

nifskope not working right with Skyrim models

Now, here's the fix I found: The meshes that you occasionally find in your data folder? Yeah, don't trust 'em. They can come without shading. And BSA extracting? It's very wonky. You want to actually sort it by folder name, then locate meshes/actors/character

Once you locate the first instance of that, get it as close to the bottom of the visible list as you can, highlight it, hold shift, and hit the PAGE DOWN key five to ten times. Once you do that, click the extract button. Choose your destination, click to the bottom item on the list, hit the down key, and repeat until you're done with the wanted files.

Do not use the Extract all key, as the official BSA files have way too many files and the program is not built to handle that much--it runs out of data trying, and then you have to relaunch it. I mean, I guess you could try extract all after sorting to get the necessary files, but it's much safer this way.

Scratch that, seems it only worked for hairs. The body meshes and such are still pure white.
