Chaos Rathma
I've probably owned Morrowind for all of two months now. I've created a Nord warrior of sorts and a Breton mage of sorts. (sorts) because I choose only to make costum classes, cuz I think the default ones suck. Anyhow I find it rather boring to go about hacking and slashing with my Nord. I'm amused when I tangle with magic although I find Alechemy really lame, Enchanting, Destruction, Alteration, Mysticism all fun..Illusion can be useful. Sorry for the rambling ANYHOW my point is I need some veteran help I can't seem to make a character I am willing to settle down with and play thru the game more then level 15. I want to stick to a high magical character I'm more the mage type but I was wondering if any of you had some imput onto which abilites would be good ideas for Major, Minors and a race possible, although I really only think High Elves, and Breton having Magicka bonuses are worth my while perhaps others have oppinons in which to inform me. THanks I hope you all reply.
Malchik
It's all a matter of personal choice. If you use the search button you will find various open threads about what characters are good etc. To be honest, the higher the level you get, the more similar the characters become. You need to be quite strict with yourself to play in character. Hack and slash is not easy if you are at level one and set the difficulty slider to plus 100. Magic is hardest at lower levels too, as you would expect. If you aren't interested in the character it could be that you haven't got properly into the game itself. Join house telvanni if you want to play a mage. Start getting involved with both faction and main quest plot lines and take it from there. I don't play as a mage although I have alteration, illusion and mysticism as major/minor skills. I have a combat character that takes ALL skills from stealth and magic menus just to make things difficult. Get into the game plots and then try out different combinations. Oh, and BTW, welcome to the forums, chill, have fun and always remember the words of the wise woman. "Once you have eaten the cake, all you have to look forward to is indigestion." Switch
Well this isn't really the right place, since you're new we'll just use it as your newbie greeting thread :P as Malchik said, just have a search around. Welcome to the forums, have fun and don't spam.

DreamOfTheRood
Here we go: I find that the best characters all have game plans. For instance, my Redguard Bounty Hunter is into minimal magic. He doesn't have any magical disciplines as his major or minor skills. Aside from the Moonstone Mark & Recall mod, he uses no magic except for enchantments, scrolls and potions. You could do something like that, or you could go in the complete opposite direction. However, character creation is only the tiniest part of Morrowind. Go back to Caius Cosades, and get some quests. Join a House, join a Guild, kill some brigands, but just do something. Morrowind is hardly about levels. It's about the story, and that's what you have to get into. That story ... that's the reason for this huge online community.
tyjet3
If you want a great mage, i would go with a female breton for race... For a birthsign go with the lady or atronach For majors do this: IllusionArmor of choiceConjuration/ or a weapon of your choiceAlterationEnchant for minor: IllusionSpeechcraftAcrobaticsAthleticsAlchemy Note: don't use destruction. it sucks. after level 20 your spells become usless... ...I feel like i forgot something... well that shoud do...
