kkk122
Sierra Madre was a testing ground for some of Big MT technologies. This means that the vending machines were probably still being tested in 2077. I mean, the whole of SM was supposed to provide shelter (for those within the vault) whenever a nuclear war happens (it was considered inevitable), was built in 2070s and was where Big MT tech was being tested, so clearly the vending machines.were being tested sometime in 2070s. The vending machines were Big MT technology so they absolutely had to be tested (they were responsible for the Cloud, cazadores, nightstalkers, everything you find in Big MT crater and more). It couldn't stop the war, let alone prevent it. The 30 headshots is purely gameplay issue - you aren't playing an action game. One hit kill headshots wouldn't make any sense in an RPG. In terms of the story, when you get shot in the head and live, people are still quite surprised, so it is safe to assume that post apocalyptic heads aren't bulletproof. bruse
For Dead Money, I just deleted the script for activating collars near radios/etc. It makes zero sense. It makes even less sense then the nonsense red cloud (which doesn't make sense either). Besides, it's relatively easily to mod in realistic weapons (and there's a mod which adds recoil even). Even though it does break somewhat the "RPG-ness" of it when your basic 9mm pistol you start the game with is lethal against any (unarmoured) human you meet in the game, and a hell of a lot more practical then some monstrous endgame .45-70G revolver (unless you want to kill things with armour, but for that you'd use a rifle to begin with), and the Service Rifle which you get in the next town is basically enough to finish the game and more practical then larger-caliber "showoff" weapons (if nothing, ammo's lighter, if using a realistic carry mod / etc - it's a huge deal). The vanilla handling of weapons in NV is almost comical, but the big problem with realistic weapon handling is that enemy AI is so atrociously bad it just allows you to pick them off with a rifle as they shuffle about like zombies waiting to be shot.
