cipher86
And if anyone could explain/link me to an explanation of exactly *why* the vanilla leveling system is flawed, that would be great. I hear a lot of bad things about it, but being fairly new to this game I don't totally understand the flaws. The way I see it, you only gain attribute multipliers if you use a certain skill. So, if you want Strength/Endurance, play a Fighter type. Agility/Speed, play a Thief type. Willpower/Intelligence, play a Wizard type. So far, this seems fine. I sense the problem is with the way the multipliers are created. The thing I question is - if you constantly get 5x multipliers, do you basically just become OP? Conversely, if you consistently gain 2x or 3x multipliers, do you eventually became UP, or is it more balanced? So, because of this, is 5x multipliers something people go after just to have a perfect character, who then happens to be OP? I'm asking because I would like to have a consistent level of challenge. I had played Oblivion on PS3 shortly after it first came out, but didn't like it. I recently got GOTY edition after hearing about OOO and some user mods, so I decided to give it another try. I am absolutely loving the game now. However, I don't want to become gimped in OOO due to the shoddy (if it is true) vanilla leveling system, nor do I want to become OP by using an always 5x multiplier mod. One of the main reasons I am enjoying Oblivion so much more is because of the challenge that OOO provides; I do not want this to completely disappear. tldr; what's a good leveling mod to use with OOO so I don't become OP or UP, thus helping maintain the level of challenge that makes the mod so enjoyable for me? ihateregisteringeverywhere
Just get one, any one. Almost every one of em's at least 3 times better than the default... I use this one: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=12426
cipher86
Sounds good... only question I have is, is it compatible with OOO/MMM/Frans (I'm using all through FCOM)? I really prefer the gain xp to level method.
ihateregisteringeverywhere
It says in the name :) It indeed does. Wait, lemme think... warcry adds new beasts as well, right? If so then there might be some gaps... but who knows.
Darkf0rge
I was hoping there would be more discussion about this topic. I have tried alot of different levelers so far, because I hate the vanilla method mainly the problem with efficient levelling butso far it seems like they unbalance the game when running FCOM. Any idea on what to do here? or the inner workings of FCOM so I can adjust the levelling rate, health gains ect from the mods I use to be more inline with the intended ooo experience. Maigrets
I'm only using OOO and MMM at present, but since a system upgrade I'm going to go with FCOM when I feel like reading all the docs. Thank goodness for BOSS and Wrye Bash. The leveling mod I use is an old one, but is very good and I can't see why it wouldn't be compatible with FCOM.KseAliLevelinghttp://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=3932 I think the main complaints about leveling in Oblivion are that everything levels with you. As far as I'm concerned it's the most unnatural system ever devised. Enemies get stronger and stay at or around your level as you proceed. It makes it pointless really. I want to be able to hold my own in a fight but not be a godly force. OOO fixes this by making the world dynamic and taking the focus off you by creating a more realistic experience where you can be killed straight out of the tutorial dungeon if you're not careful. You have to be strategic and think about what you're doing.Like in the real world, you invade someone's territory they hit back, hard. Not everyone likes this type of play, but both OOO and MMM are pretty much the only reason I still play the game. No amount of new quests, armour weapons etc can compensate for the default leveling system when there's little to no challenge because you can pretty much overpower anything at level 25 or less. It gets boring extremely quickly. OOO already has some leveling properties merged into the full version. If you plan a character with multiple skills rather than focusing mainly on stealth for example, you'll find you don't level as fast. You'll need a multi skilled character anyway to survive most encounters. You may get some ideas from this page or at least some links.http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Tes4Mod:FCOM
