Problems installing FOSH

I'm trying to get FOSE to work so I can use several awesome mods however, I install FOSE just fine and the game will run but when I activate any of the mods requiring FOSE on NMM the game will crash the second I start it up. I don't understand what the problem is do I have to install the mods manually or is there a different problem?

You have to install FOSE manually. Follow the instructions in the ReadMe that comes with the file. I am not familiar with NMM, but there should be an option to launch the game using FOSE. You have to use that option in order for the game to run properly when you are using mods that require FOSE.

I installed FOSE to the games directory, not via mod manager and I start the game through fose not the mod manager yet the game still stops working the second I start it up when I have a mod requiring FOSE activated.

If you have the game installed in the Program Files, your computer's User Account Control (UAC) will not allow FOSE to work. The easiest work around is to completely uninstall Fallout 3 and reinstall it in a location other than Program Files. During installation, you should come to a screen that asks if you want a default install or custom install. Choose custom install. In the box that appears, type in the installation path for the game. Choose a place outside of Program Files. A lot of people choose the Games folder.

Some mods require a merged patch to work together. Try downloading FO3 Edit, load all of your mods with the program and then, after the background is loaded, right click on the window where your mods' names are displayed, select "other" and click on create merged patch. Then use FOMM to activate it at the very bottom of your load order. It is reccomended that you use BOSS before creating the merged patch. Also, edit your fallout.ini file, by replacing bUseThreadedAI=0 (under General settings) with bUseThreadedAI=1 and add iNumHWThreads=2 on the very bottom of the general section. Hope it helps.
