Jenlyn Fayre
Thank you all for your patience in answering my questions. Those that have responded to me have been very helpful. ^_^ Anyhoo, how do you go about bribing people (esp. merchants!) so that they like you more? 10 isn't enough for a good bribe, but I don't want to give them 100! Is there a way to enter in a specific amount? Remember, I have Xbox MW, no modifications possible. Thank you!
_it_
nope bad luck man its just 10 100 and 1000 if you advance a little in the game you will have more then enough money to bribe them or you will upgrade your speechcraft to taunt (let them attack you) admire (let them like you)and to intimidate (to scare the living crap out of them) but remember their personality level towards you will be
DreamOfTheRood
Speechcraft is pretty much vital for every character. There are various trainers in House Hlaalu that can increase your speechcraft skill for cash.In regards to bribery, 10 gold is more than enough is you have a decent speechcraft skill. Just keep giving them 10 until their disposition is at a reasonable level.
covenant2
I just bribe people 100 or 1000 if i am feeling generous.
DreamOfTheRood
That's an obscene waste of money. Their disposition will rise or lower the same depending on whether you give them 10 or 1000.

Dinin
That's an obscene waste of money. Their disposition will rise or lower the same depending on whether you give them 10 or 1000. Not true. I see a significant increase in disposition when you bribe 1000 compared to 10. I do agree on the fact that bribing 1000 is a complete waste of money, but there is definately an increase. FlightlessBird
I'm with Dream. Its your speachcraft skill that makes the big differnce. Although it seems more logical the more money the better but think about it. If a guy came up to you and said, "Heres 1000, like me!" or "Hey can you help me out for 10 septims?" Which would you take seriously? You guys will probably shoot my point out of the air but I just wanted to voice my opinion.
Dinin
Well, you're talking about real life. You're wrong when it comes to Morrowind though. Heres a test to see if bribing 10 is better than 1000. Start a character, any type will do. Go to your average NPC and bribe 10, then 1000 (save and get around 2000 before trying this in case you mess up) If you bribed 1000, then the disposition will increase more than if you bribed 10. Its a fact. But yeah, I wouldn't dish out 1000 just to get someone to like me in morrowind, but it wouldn't be easier to get someone to like you if you bribed 10 compared to 1000. And on what you're saying Flightless Bird, I don't know....if someone came up to me and offered $1000, it would be VERY difficult not to like them. I would probably worship that person for a week. Malchik
The connection between speechcraft and bribery is unclear to me. High personality levels will predispose the character to like you and therefore reduce the need to bribe. There seems to be a relationship between size of bribe and change in disposition but it is quite disproportionate. One bribe of 1000 gets far less than 10 bribes of 100 etc. If you are in a rush it might be worthwhile, not otherwise. The ability to taunt successfully is also connected to personality (and perhaps speechcraft). Maybe someone could check the base rules to find out the truth of the matter.
