Your Favorite Fallout 3 Faction

Mine happens to be reillys rangers. I like them cause they arent too snobby, they are sincere, they are for real, and the characters to me are just more fun than The brother hood of steel where everyone seems to have their nose so high that they could probably touch another galaxy with the tip of their nose. some good proof of this would be... ***SPOILER***

When you kill that super mutant behemoth at GNR and all the other brother hood mates are like "good job hooray! a guy from a vault killed what we experinced folk couldnt kill. single handedly!" and then you go to sarah lyons and ask her if you can join the BhoS and then she gets crabby and says "Dont get ahead of your self blah blah blah!!!! I can do that on top of my head" (he incompetence and B*tchyness lead me to curiosity...I decided to have an experiment I redid the area waited for the behemoth to come out use console command to kill/toggle ai of all other brother hood members, got rid of sarahs essential tag, and finnally used TCl and a stealth boy to get on the roof and sat back and relax to see if she could kill the behemoth all by herself cause she's SOOOOOO STRONG! and the results came in. she got owned. completley and utterlly owned. I EVEN LEFT HER THE FAT MAN!! 8 mini nukes!!! lol and she got owned).

****SPOILER ENDS HERE****

Unlike the brotherhood reillys is grateful when you help them and are honored by you. Enclave was also a pretty well done faction. haveing its morals and belief system I also liked how ruthlessly evil they made them. that even some BhoS members were afraid of them and envied their armor. my only problem with them was their power over all. I felt there should have been several enclave camps scattered all around. I mean geez they got the eye robots why not a camp? they also seem relativley unknown to a point where Nova thinks they are just some prewar garbage radio on a loop. So if I had to say my second favorite it would be the Enclave. my second infavorite next to the brother hood of steel is talon company mercs. why?

cause...you cant do anything with them. just really pointless. When I saw them I was actually very excited. but alas I was dissapointed at being

****SPOILER

unable to join them

*end spoiler*

so those were mine what are yours?

I really like the Talon Merc company. Not exactly when they are my enemy though. They get pretty annoying, but are easy to take out. I like using the Alternate Start mod to be added to their faction. It's pretty fun.

could you post me a link to that mod...?

Raiders. Yes, their few voice files grow thin after a while. But they've got style - indeed they spend more time attending to their appearance than any other faction (I had a mohawk for a few weeks, I know).

What is lacking in the Raider faction is some charismatic leader to give their struggle for existence meaning, a raison d'etre, a burning lite of hatred. Perhaps not Lord Humongus, but something of that nature who will articulate some coherent philosophy that attracted the punks to their way of life. At the moment, they appear to be disorganized but ever so stylish ruffians.

I'm willing to help/voice act (in a bourbon and cigarette damaged voice) a quest where we meet the leader of the Raiders in his mountain repast. Perhaps he quotes Hakim Bey. Perhaps he quotes Baudelaire. Perhaps he quotes Bin Laden. But Raiders as they now stand are meaningless obstacles. Have you ever shed a tear for one?

really the point of raiders is just mad psychopathy. They are just people who were either mentally crushed by the harshness of the wasteland or just people who went crazy. basiclly they are like pirates only with much less organization.

Even pirates had captains...

Raiders are also my favorite faction, and I wish they were more fleshed out. I view them as ruthless scavengers who live off the sweat of others. By no means would I like them to be organized on par with the Talons, but I wish they would do something besides mutilate wastelanders and wait for Mr. 101 to come visit. They should be like the punks from Road Warrior, but without the bikes. I want them to actively steal resources from small settlements, and stuff like that...

yes they do. thats why I said LESS ORGANIZED in comparison to pirates. there never really seems to be any raider leaders. I think they were far more organized back in FO1 and FO2 where raiders actually belonged to a group of raiders and actually had leaders. In fallout 3 though. It seems more like a group of cynical people got together and said "this world is harsh so we should be too". I would study Jericho a bit considering he was a raider. He does say something about no crew takeing him on. so to me it sounds like there is no one ruler over raiders but rather groups of people who have turned bad in the world due to surrounding conditions.

Probably the Insane Survivors, or any one of the crazed human inhabitants of the Vaults. I think it's interesting to see what they did in the Vaults, being so bored with nothing to do except go insane. Stacked glasses and books and pencils... It's like locking away lab rats and coming back 200 years later to see their crazy offspring.

Also, GAAARY. Still haunts me.

The Underworld ghouls seem like reasonable folks. Which is a rare thing in the Wasteland (the guy with a megaphone babbling about unimaginable cosmic horrors was a little over the top, but seems less the exception than the rule).

But I am happiest to run into Enclave goons. I use a mod to increase the number of goons that spawn at each spawn point by about 3x, and the large groups of plasma rifle-wielders pose a real threat. If everything goes well, I get to collect the plasma rifles. Shooting their whirlybirds out of the sky is fun too (I wish there was loot among the debris, like a giant flying pinata that will send assassins after you if you don't pop it fast enough)
