Goodsprings Saloon of Death

Hello. I've recently decided that I wanted to dust off and play some Fallout New Vegas lately. So I updated my mods (the ones I could), downloaded a couple new ones that caught my eye, got rid of the ones that I can no longer find to update due to them being hidden or incompatable and decided to get started.

For some reason, at the beginning, most textures were glossy and/or black. Like a laser pistol or a mantis. No big deal, except for the game crashing every 15 minutes.

After words, once I cleaned up my mods a little, the texture issue stopped, but for some reason, every time I enter the Saloon, the floors and walls are black, Sunny Smiles doesn't speak, and trying to exit or restart crashes everything, making it so I have to sign in and out of my computer to get it working again.

I am not a smart guy. I can only sort of understand how to use Vortex. I have no idea what to do really.

I can post my mod list if it helps, i dunno if 83 mods is too much, or too little, or what...

Any help would be appreciated. I just wanna play my game. Thank you.

Just guessing here, but strange texture errors and missing content like this is usually indicative of exceeding the plugin limit, though if you're only using 83 mods, that doesn't exactly fit. Here are some possible solutions you might want to try:

1. Try the Mod Limit Fix mod to see if it fixes that possible issue.

2. Try using mods to make your game more efficient, such as NVAC, NVTF, NVHR, and/or FNV4GB.

3. Try using FNVEdit to make a Merged Patch. It can help to make your game more stable.

Well if half worked? I couldn't figure out how to make a merged patch but the mods did make the room not black! Unfortunately, Sunny still couldn't speak and trying to leave still crashed the game. Maybe I should un/reinstall everything...

I'll keep trying to figure out how to make a merged patch though.

(The fact that my game is crashing every...minute-ish now must mean something's gone f*#@y...)))

If you do reinstall then make sure you use the 4GB patch, the black textures are related to a lack of available memory. If the other problems persist then post your load order, someone might spot an issue with it.

I do have the 4gb patch...so maybe it is a load order thing. I wish I knew how to check it, I use vortex since it's fairly easy to understand and then use LOOT to sort the order. But maybe I messed up the order somewhere along the way.

When you're having an error this massive, it's not the worst idea to just start over, particularly when you're not sure where you might have gone wrong. It's worth considering, especially to make sure you do the 4GB thing correctly.

As for your load order, as Jim said you can post it, but that would only really help if your load order is particularly disastrous.

Welp, I'm probably gonna start over then. Uninstall and reinstall everything. Thanks for the help. Here's my load order just in case though. Freshly sorted from LOOT. Again, thank you all for trying to help, I really appreciate it.

That's definitely more of a full mod list then just 83 mods. You've got 110 plugins! The only error we spot right away is that you have some ESPs above ESMs, and that's a big no-no. As for the the rest of your load order, we haven't used many of those mods and can't vouch for what LOOT decided to do. We do think it odd that it told you to put the MCM near the bottom though. We usually put it at the top. You're probably best off starting over and just testing in between installs as you go. This will help to let you know when you go wrong.

Oh, also, look into Archive Invalidation when you get the chance. Not sure if Vortex does anything for it, but that might be useful to know.

I'll try re-installing them then. Like I said at the start, I don't really know what I'm doing, I just hope for the best when I have vortex load the mods and LOOT organize them. I'll try to sort them properly. Thank you!
