What ENB to choose?

ENB is pretty much crap if you ask me.

Set SSAO and color saturation in your drivers and woho, awesomnes without excessive blurr and fps loss.

In RL there are no such bright colors anywhere

That is your opinion and you can have your go about it, but it don't help me mate!

Frankly, i did a lot off tweaking and trying but for now i just like the ENB i got and the "bright colors" are not that bright. It depends on the ENB that you use and several other things can change the appearance in your game. And lastly, the blur thing can be easily turned off if it bothers you too much. I did it with my first ENB's and it was great, but in this one i'm starting to like the effect and i'm gonna give it a go.

@LargeStyle, thanks for sharing the YT links, gonna check them out asap!

I think you'll find those videos interesting - or at least I did.

FWIW: If you or anyone thinks their "blur" or Depth of Field is too strong then you don't have to disable it completely, the effect can be lowered by opening the enbeffectprepass.fx file and press Control+F to use the find option and find: #define fBlurScale= and lower the value. I'd recommend in working in percentages i.e think of how much lower you want the effect to be and calculate the value based on the percentage from the existing value.

Thanks for the vid links LargeStyle, i took a look and they are very good for comparing ENB's. Only thing i found lacking was a voice comment on the different ENB's.

I have GophersVids channel on YouTube and i really like the way he is approaching mods, specially his work on modding Skyrim and how to approach that.

As for the DoF, so far i like the effect in game, but thanks for the hint about scaling the effect to the setting i prefer, until now i was thinking you could only turn it on or off. So yet another thing learned :)

I've been playing around with ENB's for a few weeks and I can tell you it is a PITA to get running smooth. I have a pretty powerful computer and I can't get my game to run stable with ENBs....

I have tried tons of tweaks and adjustments and haven't found ENBs to work well for me...

Just my two pennies :geek:

I have been trying out different ENBs for the past 2 weeks. I tried around 20 of the most popular ones on Nexus. And my final pick is Stakado Realistic. You can find it here: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/12180//?

Both the Realistic and Cinematic versions look great. But most importantly is the performance. I get barely any FPS drop with this preset if I turn off DOF. And use Dynavision for DOF. Even though it uses an older ENB version 0.112, it still is one of the best looking to me.

The other ones I like are: Kinematic ENB (part of K ENB), Jasmine ENB, and Project MATSO. Check them out and hope you find one you like. =)

Hey to the new replies! Welcome and thanks for sharing your experiences.

At the moment i'm running RealVision ENB and all is going well. The only thing that i'm looking to change is the pitch black spots in dungeons when there is no light source. One option is the mod that makes it possible to wear a lantern on your body. Another is trying to adjust the settings of the ENB but that is unfamiliar territory for me. And changing the setting maybe makes the outside world in full sunlight to bright.

Time will tell

And i will check out the suggested ENB's for sure, maybe they do just the trick that i'm looking for!

WOW you have the same video card as me! Granted my processor is an i7, I can recommend a few...

Project enb - Super easy install if you don't know allot about moding. This is my preferred enb. It comes with allot of preset looks so you don't have to tweak anything as long as you're not super picky. This was the hardest on my system but I know for a fact your system can handle it as long as you don't mind playing at 30 fps. This enb focuses on blues and areas with shadows are more well-lit. It was built on making the world look beautiful, not as hardcore as the "realistic" enb despite that being a relative term.

Downsides, uses an older d3d9.dll so might cause a few minor bugs here and there with a few mods that require the dll. easily worked around.

Realvision - Another Super popular enb. Tried it out, and was impressed. Very easy on your system and adds a level of realism that is more accurate than Project enb while still enhancing the colors. Not allot to say because I prefer the screenshot-worthy unrealistic perfection of Project enb. Sunlight looks the best in this one by a landslide! The rays coming off the sun are just breathtaking. If you're going for immersion while still enhancing colors this one is probably for you.

Sharpshooters enb - Many enbs make dark interiors and dark nights very difficult to get. This enb keeps dark places dark, and enchances the lit areas nicely. This was my least favorite simply for the fact that dark places are more accurately... well.. dark!

Also check out GophersVids. He covers all the most popular enbs and hes extremely entertaining. His videos are allot more in-depth at explaining the differences than I am and he gives countless VISUAL examples of all enbs, and then shows them all with CoT and RLO installed. I was impressed by his work to say the least.

EDIT: I saw you decided to try out realvision. Excellent choice!! I was re-watching video info on it and am considering using it myself
