btrigg
I'm currently on Vortex 1.4.15 on a Windows 10 64-bit PC, specs listed below: CPU: i5-8600KRAM 16GB Kingston HyperX Fury Black DDR4-2133 CL14GPU: MSI GTX 1070 Gaming XPSU: SeaSonic M12II 620 W 80+ BronzeMOBO: Gigabyte Z370 AORUS Gaming 7 (rev. 1.0) To preface this post, I started this save game maybe 8 months ago. I then moved, ended up putting my storage in pc for about 6 months and then picked up where I left off (with no issues) about 2-3 weeks ago. I updated almost all my mods, updated Vortex to the current build, and have had absolutely zero issues until about an hour ago. For whatever reason, steam always crashes on my PC. I'll play a game for 3 hours or 20 minutes and when I close the game, steam might crash. When this happens, no big deal, I just launch another game, it does the whole "update" steam thing, and it launches the game. I think this ruined my saves for Vortex. I ended last night's session with an overwrite of the quicksave (probably shouldn't have done this now that I know how the save files work after researching it the past hour), but I had never had any issues before. When I went to launch the game through vortex, I launched it through NVSE like I always do and steam happened to have crashed right before. So, Steam did the whole "update" thing and launched New Vegas launcher and not straight into the game. I didn't press play when the launcher came up. I closed the game and relaunched it through NVSE (which I launch through Vortex). When it launched, all my saves were there EXCEPT for my saves from last night. And I guess I'd been overwriting quicksave pretty frequently, because the last quicksave I have was from level 15 two weeks ago. It should've been level 24. Which I know for a fact because under the save files in Vortex, it shows my saves from last night. And I know the quicksave (and autosave) in the save files folder is the one from last night because it was "last modified" at the time I stopped playing last night. And when I refresh the save files in Vortex, it still shows my 2 files from last night. I've also tried restoring the save game plugins, but that didn't do anything (probably because all the saves use the same plugins). I've also disabled steam cloud and deleted the steam cloud file and nothing changed. I would assume steam cloud overwrote the quicksave and autosave files, but the files were last modified yesterday (9/30) and if they were gonna get messed up, it would've happened today (10/1). Why would this happen? How can I recover my saves so I don't have to replay 2 weeks worth of progress? Does it have to do with NVSE? New Vegas launcher? Guest deleted34304850
none of that is anything to do with vortex as far as i can tell.i'd suggest don't start the game through vortex, as that's not required at all, just start it from nvse loader. If you read the post, I stated twice that I launch NVSE through Vortex. Basically just a shortcut through vortex that launches NVSE. Just to give you the benefit of the doubt, I launched NVSE through Windows Explorer and it changed nothing.
AugustaCalidia
Just to give you the benefit of the doubt, I launched NVSE through Windows Explorer and it changed nothing. This why your issue is not a Vortex problem. You're best advised to start a new thread in a Steam and/or New Vegas support forum.

I did read your post - it was just about the only thing i could suggest to you given you'd posted this in the vortex support forum for some god knows why reason.if you remove vortex from your process and nothing is changed, then you can remove vortex from your troubleshooting, which means you need to post this in some steam forum or the nvse forum.good luck and you're welcome. I posted in the vortex support forum because Vortex shows my saves as being correct and when I launch through Vortex, the saves don't match up. It's set up through a profile, so I didn't know if that would be an issue or not. Just wanted some constructive criticism on what I need to do. Your advice was to launch it through NVSE directly, which I was already doing through a shortcut in Vortex. You didn't suggest it was an issue with NVSE or Steam or to post on another forum. "None of that has anything to do with vortex" doesn't really point me in any direction or address why the saves in Vortex are showing what I would expect vs what I'm actually seeing. I will post in an NVSE forum and hope for better answers than what I got here. Thanks.
