sorry guys im new to Morrowind, always learning.

but can you clarify something for me.

When you say where do you live do you mean that you've disposed of everyone in the house and have "unofficially" taken it as your own?

Or can you actually claim possession of a property in Morrowind? If so, how?

To be able to buy houses on morrowind you will have to download the patch, otherwise you will just havr to kill everyone in the house and just say it is your's. I found the patch at cnet but havn't downloaded it yet, I dont think i want to either.

okay, I see.

anther question if you dont mind.

When you kill someone who hasnt attacked you its a crime. and if it happens outside in front of a guard you get arrested. now if you went into someones home who lives alone and killed them, would the imperial guards know about it, or would someone have to see it?

i.e. if you get seen picking a lock someone you get shouted at and the imperials atttend. if you do it without being seen your okay. does it apply to killing innocent people?

I could just try it but im worried of ruining my game.

I strongly advise against killing innocent people until you know they are not part of a quest. That is much more likely to ruin your game. Tales of woe by those who took over Ghorak manor in Caldera only to lose the chance of getting one of the best longswords in the game have been posted on the forums in the past.

But if you save before you try your murderous spree, you can reload when you know the answer.

IIRC if there is no one else in the cell, you get away with it. If there is another you don't. But you can taunt them into attacking you and then there's no problem!

If you play on PC there are mods that have far better houses than any in-game sometimes with quests to go with them. I like the Serene Tower because the quest is fairly short and capable of being done at a low level. It gives you a quick way between the five mages' guilds and Dagon Fel and the opportunity to teleport back at any time. (It is in Tel Branora overlooking Mistress Therana's tower.)
