white_dragoon_x
like almost everyone ive been using the GECK to edit Fallout 3 and im wondering if you need another program to edit the game settings. and by settings i mean files that say how much negative karma you get for stealing killing and your max level. All i know is that when i try to open them in the GECK it pops up some message and then never opens the file. Any suggestions would be apriciated (ignore bad spelling)
cscottydont
I'm not sure if I'm understanding but... the gameplay settings can be found by clicking (in the top menu bar in the geck) Gameplay->Settings if you get an error when you do this, the exact error message could be useful to help diagnose the problem
Cipscis
GMSTs are not files, they are defined either within a data file or within the game engine (if they have no FormID then they are defined in the game engine). The GMST that controls the amount of negative karma rewarded to the player for stealing is "fKarmaModStealing" and the GMST that controls the maximum level is "iMaxCharacterLevel". When increasing "iMaxCharacterLevel", you should be aware that there is a bug that causes CTDs when the player reaches a level greater than 20 under certain circumstances (with negative karma, if I remember correctly). As far as I know, it is currently believed that this is due to a lack of Karma Titles for "evil" characters at higher levels than level 20.
