I've downloaded a few mods from Fallout 3, but every time I download them to my computer, I don't have the program to run them with. Could someone help me? Do I just have to put the file somewhere and it will work?

depends what format they are in.

Name.Zip

Name.Rar

Name.7ip

Name.Arz

Name.Ace

ETc all of these are formats which compress files so they take up less space and so the servers can both store more data and have lower costs for bandwidth when they send it to you.

The list is pretty much only the tip of the iceburg some are almost never used but once were popular others are just starting.

The main files on here are Rar and Zip

WinRar is a good program to open the archive and extract the files.

Normaly you will unzip the file into fallout dir, and then use either a mod manager or fallout launcher to select the files if there ESP, otherwise there outright overwrites and you dont need to do anything but unzip them into the correct directory and make sure your run the Program ArchiveInvalidation Invaliadater. Otherwise even if the files are in the right place they may not work.

There is more too it but you really need to work it out for yourself.

Three of four things to do...

1- Use 7zip to open the file... (google it).

2- Everything must be in your "data" folder (in the Fallout 3 folder). (Be careful of the "path" already in the archive).

3- Use the "DATA" in the launcher or better yet use the FOMM (FallOut Mod Manager)

4- Read the txt file (usually included) within the archive... There are things you need to change in the "ini" file... Don't forget, in FOMM, to click once on the "Toggle invalidation"

Best of luck! :P

Thanks for the help, I'll just have to wing it. Soon enough I shall have the ability to wear sunglasses with other head-gear! Huzzah!
