doctorwangalang
So I'm trying to edit a mod's .esp to fix the character errors in the weapon names and to adjust the gun stats to not be ridiculously under powered. However I cannot save the changes to that .esp, and if I try to save it as a new one it doesn't load the other files(textures, meshes, etc). I'm pretty much in the infancy stage of G.E.C.K.; and any advice relating to it is appreciated.
JimboUK
Saving it as a new esp means you're trying to make one esp reliant on another, the game doesn't like that. As for not being able to save the original I'm wondering if that esp has the master flag set for some reason, the GECK won't save it if it has. Load up FNVEdit, find the esp you want to edit, click on the + next to that esp in the left panel and click on "File Header". Now on the right hand panel at the top you'll see an entry for record flags, if that has "ESM" in it then right on "ESM" and select "Edit", OK the warning and then uncheck "ESM" in the box that pops up. Now hit "OK" and close FNVEdit, saving when prompted. The esp should now be editable in the GECK.

The File Header was blank, may that be an issue? Also it appears it doesn't actually open the .esp itself, only loads the data in the .esp and puts it into a blank .esp.
