tehfata
hey; I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem. whenever I try to load a .nif into the geck for a new item, it just crashes. is there someway to fix this?
neunen
theres several things that could cause this, most likely it is an issue with the nif. what kind of model are you trying to bring in? what did you make it with? did you use the "paste over and existing nif" method? tehfata
I've done it with new 3ds max models, converted to .nif through export and checked in nifskope, and it's happened with reskins of existing models (for that I just replace the texture sets now tho in the geck) that I did in nifskope; it seems as tho any .nif model I try to load up causes it to crash. I dunno f this makes a difference, but I'm running xp pro 64 bit... maybe there's an issue with my system? I dunno
unperfek7
G.E.C.K. is VERY unstable. it crashes alot too here. they programmed it very very bad ( just like fallout 3 ) so you cant do alot against that. :/
neunen
i dont know if the geck runs more of less stable on 64bit, but double check that you have set the "Tspace flag" in the nif to 16, then run the spell "update all tangent spaces" if you havent already done that. ive also read somewhere that one nifscript for 3ds is better for import and one is better for export, but i mostly use blender so im not sure which one is which. im not sure how outdated this thread would be now (since theyre updating the scripts all the time) but maybe check your steps against the steps in this tutorialhttp://thenexusforums.com/index.php?showtopic=93569
