ModerateWolf
Not a particularly experienced modder over here, but I got a new Laptop recently to play modded skyrim on the go. I tried to get my crash logs going with the Papyrus script you can find with a basic google search, but when i went to paste the text into my .ini, there were four to choose from... .ini (base).ini (baked)prefs.ini (base)prefs.ini (baked) So, I did what any sensible, self respecting armature modder would do and tried each one individually. None yielded any crash logs when my game crashed. I've been digging online all this past week trying to figure out how to get crash logs set up so I can actually start figuring out what I need to get rid of... and one forum claimed that Vortex duplicates these files and runs its own .ini system entirely? I am so confused. I never post but I'm at my wit's end, and I don't want to Delete Vortex for another Mod manager... and then run into the same problem again anyway. Any help would be greatly appreciated... thanks!
Guest deleted34304850
i think you're on a fools errand with the papyrus log. its not a debug log. not in the slightest.you can make changes to your skyrim.ini file - it should be okay.
Solution Tannin42 Posted October 23, 2021 Solution Share Posted October 23, 2021 The .base and .baked files are indeed created by Vortex but please ignore them, don't edit or delete them.Vortex needs these files to figure out which changes _you_ made (in the game, launcher, bethini, ...) vs changes Vortex itself (or one of its extensions) made so that it can undo its own changes without reverting yours. But you can make any changes you want to the regular ini files. As I said: you can completely ignore the base/baked files.
