LE True Spear Animations

To start off I know new animations can only replace current one's and that as of now there has not been a way to implement standalone animations through the creation kit.

 

I also know that many do not care much for spears as a weapon and that's cool but many mods cater to a minority so hear me out.

 

Recently I E-mailed Bethesda asking them if they could release spears and their animations as a patch or download (like the High-Def tex pack) seem as they would not be making anymore DLC for Skyrim (a mistake in my opinion but their choice)

 

They replied with some legal banter about it belonging to Bethesda and so forth so I left it at that, no harm in asking right?

 

Now seem as a weapon motion must first be replaced by a new one, in this case spears, I was wondering if anyone out there has considered making full, smooth looking spear anims (or is currently doing so)

 

I know there are a few out there that change the odd power attack but what I'm asking for is a complete set that yes has to overwrite others but can be turned off easily enough through the mod manager.

 

Another note is lore, Spears should always have been in Skyrim, Norse culture utilized spears for Boar hunting and EVERY culture did so for warfare. Skyrim isn't about viking raiders with longboats sacking towns, it's about their homeland, their culture and of course their standing armies.

 

Forgive me for the long post but little details are what gets me into a game, finding the little nods to real world things (which Skyrim is full of).

 

TL;DR

 

Can anyone undertake the task of producing full, working Spear animations, I've played so many mods that make Bethesda look sloppy (I love them as Developers but some things are just blatant laziness) and I know that out there, there are talented animators who could do this and once again prove just how awesome Skyrim mods can be.

I also still really want to see some spear animations. Even if they have to replace existing animations. I think Bergzore, who made Immersive Animations, would be our best bet in getting spear animations.

Yeah, that would be a good start, I use that mod myself and I love what it does for the one-handed short spears that were modded in, looks pretty cool with swords too (although axes suffer but I don't use them much anyway although I am sure many do) and yeah Immersive animations is another gem, I just hope a talented animator can pick this up, it would add a whole new kind of combat to the game.

If i can make some sugestions :

 

Made both replacement, I mean for one-handed AND two-handed ... like that ppl can keep their main animation, exemple : I want to play spear/shield & blade/shield so I take the Two-handed replacement for spear animation...

 

And more interesting think 2handed axe and hammer have same animation, but 2handed sword have different one, so maybe just replace the 2handed axe/hamer for spear, and let use the 2handed sword for 2handed axe/hammer/sword

 

That s let us have 3 type of animation, 2handed / 1handed / spear ;)

How hard is it to make new animations? How far can they change the animations, is it too restricted or too hard? I'm interested in other types of weapons other than spears, e.g. Halberds and and Rapiers. I'm a Dark Souls fan and what I love about Dark Souls the most is the combat! I hope to see at least a portion of it in Skyrim. I hope someone pick up your request, I'm looking forward to it.

I am also a spear fan and I have been digging for spear animations as well. Unfortunately I haven't found anything living up to the expectation, nor anyone interested in doing said project. I am thinking about making my own mods so I will look more into this. But I currently have very little knowledge on making mods, let alone making animations for that matter! :p So far all I know is what the OP said. And I came up with the same idea as what Armourx said; replace axes/hammer/maces with spears/halberds/glaives and also their animations.

 

Maybe we can use something like this?

I've wanted to replace the spear animations in SkyRe for some time. Shortspears use the one-handed sword animations there, so I was thinking about replacing that with Magic Staff animations. Think about it, you pull your staff back, and then thrust it forward. Just like a spear. It will just have to be faster and one single-fluid motion. I was wanting to make longspears as well that are slower but are more powerful with longer range. I don't know jack about the creation kit so if anyone else knows how to put this all together then that would be great.
