Vagrant0
damn, another part failure. this time with a WD 150gb 10k RPM Velociraptor. some times it detects, and sometimes it doesnt. and when it is plugged in, it takes that hdd forever to post :/ anyone have experience with Western Digital RMA?How old is the drive? After 2-3 years of heavy use it's usually a good idea to start looking into getting a new one unless you went for one of the more reliable brands. For awhile I had a Maxtor 20gb drive that wasn't detecting at boot because of a faulty power connection, often requiring that the computer spend several minutes warming up before that connection was made... Unless your drive is really new, depending on the manufacturer and the warranty, you might not be able to get any sort of replacement. Western Digital seems to be fairly good in the customer service department, so might want to take some time to look over their RMA pollicy. Naturally I would wipe the drive clean (full wipe, 1's and 0's)before sending it back to them.

PureSnipe
Take it that it's RAID? Swap the cables out.
bben46
Here is a good drive eraser; HDShredder 3.6.1 http://majorgeeks.com/HDShredder_d6050.htmlJust be very careful, because once it runs - its gone for good. As it takes out the master boot record first, if you accidentally start it on the wrong drive - It's already too late.
