DarthNyriss
Hi all, I have an idea, and I'm even willing to try it if someone can show me how, but let me expain first. What I'd like is to create mannequins specifically for Legacy of the Dragonborn. One male and one female of each of the original races. Ideally what I'd like to do is:1. One male and one female of each of the original races.2. Set different heights to reflect the racial diversity, and perhaps random weights.3. If it won't be too complicated, use a modded skin, and recolour it to, say, stone.4. I don't know if this is even possible, but be able to pick and choose which mannequin goes where. Here the scene. You're walking around and see a display of Orc armour worn by an Orc, a High Elf in Elven armour and so forth. Bretons in College robes or something, and be able to see what the different armours look like on men and women. I DON'T see moving mannequins, that's creepy (UNLESS it's created with one pose and never moves, like store mannequins. Now. I know there are tutorials on how to make a mannequin, and I have a mod somewhere (maybe it was oldrim and never ported, I don't know) that changed all mannequins everywhere in Skyrim as a skinned female (insert race here). My first question, then, is this. Given the LotD museum is it's own worldspace and has static displays you don't see anywhere else, and given there there are so...damn...MANY...and with each having their own static pose, can I not borrow a page from their book to create these mannequins? Place Orc mannequin spot here, Nord mannequin spot there, etc, then once I add the armour bits to the right spot the statue hoves into view, as in the displays in LotD? Also, even in player homes, naked mannequins are a little depreasing, like a constant reminder of some unfinished you need to take care of....someday. This might be a mannequin replacer? Hmm? If this is even halfway feasible, knowing me and my sad lack in any of the skills needed for this venture, if I tried to do it alone, Elder Scrolls 8 will be released by the time I'm finished. So, IF this is possible without too much effort for too little reward, and IF someone or two of you might lend a hand, please by all means. Hell if you want credit for it's creation, take it all. Just toss my name in there somewhere and I'll be happy. List me as the tea boy, I don't care. As long as I can see my idea (assuming it's an original one) added in AND it's well received, that's reward enough. So. Who's bored enough to help take on this idea? Who knows, we might change the destiny of mannequins in Skyrim forever. (Cue the evil laugh.) Nyriss(Strike a poae)
IsharaMeradin
There is some possibility there if someone wants to put in the work. 10 playable races would mean 10 mannequin races2 genders per race would mean 20 individual mannequin actorsAdd in vampire... and its gone up to 40 individual mannequin actors You could spread those around individually as you see fit. And thus users get your "vision" and your "vision" alone. Or you can give the player the choice at each mannequin pedestal. If you give them the choice, all 20 mannequin actors (40 if including vampire) would need to be placed at each pedestal in the disabled state. An activator of some type could be placed next to the pedestal. The activator would give the player the choice of choosing race, gender and whether or not they want the vampire variant. The activator would also offer access to a container hidden just under the floor. Gear placed in the container would be duplicated onto the mannequin so that the active mannequin would appear to be wearing the gear. The actual gear would still be within the hidden container. This way the player could change the displayed mannequin and not worry about losing their gear. So... it is "doable" but extremely time consuming. And then you'd get users wanting "patches" for other mods with mannequins. Personally, I'd be burnt out after just the base game mannequins let alone LotD. Patches would be out of the question. And that doesn't even consider the time needed to change skin texture and / or body shape so that these new mannequin races look like some kind of mannequin rather than regular NPCs frozen in place. DarthNyriss
Thisi is all useful information, thank you. I have a hell of a lot to learn. It seemed simple and straightforward in my head, but actually planning it, as you point out, becomes a lot more complicated with the practical concerns. Still, even if somene says "can't be done, here's why" it's learning, right? Thanks for your input. It does help. Nyriss(taking notes)
Wererommel
For a long time, I have been tired of looking at stiff, faceless, lifeless mannequins. Would it be possible to use Bodyslide presets to change the appearance of mannequins? I really don't know what armor and clothing looks like until I put it on, so having more lifelike mannequins would be a big help.
IsharaMeradin
There are mannequin replacers that change the mannequin actor to look like a regular NPC. Cannot make any guarantees but if the actor that the mannequin has been instructed to pull appearance from can be affect by BodySlide modifications then the mannequin should also be affected.
