SgtRoadkill Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 in all honesty the amoutn of non english mod description on the recently updatedf fiels are relaly geting on my nerves, now its relaly good tha tthe website is servicing modding community from all over the world but, i think there should a distinction or a way of filtering languages. for example the majority languages of mods on site appear to be English, Russian, Italian, French and German, now would it be possible to filter certain languages? or create a foreign language section in the modding section? i know i might get slack for this but meh just my point of view
dezdimona Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 why? Seperation of someone because of a language barrier is just plain wrong.Doesn't bother me its just a mod from someone who can't or doesn't spek english well...whats the big deal???
Sin911 Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 Some of our best modders don't speak any English! I really don't see a need to filter peoples mods by language. There really aren't that many, and they can easily be ignored by most people. By ignoring them though, you may miss out on some terrific mods. You could always go translate the text and see what the mod is about: http://translate.google.com/translate_t?hl=en#
SgtRoadkill Posted March 4, 2009 Author Posted March 4, 2009 i am not saying that i don't think non enlgish speakers aren't good modders, what i am saying is that it jsut gets a litlte bit ocnfusing to have the entire front page of the new mods not in english. or could there at least have all the titles of mods in english. this is an English website, in english. if it was french i'd expect the french to request or suggest the same thing. its the same grief people have with swedes and russians spamming mmo stuff in their respective languages on English servers/forums
LHammonds Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 There is a way. Use the Tag search and place a checkmark by "Language - English" to only see mods that have been tagged as being English or having an English translation. Speaking of English, you might want to invest in a spellcheck feature for your browser so that those of us that speak English do not have to translate what you typed into English. ;) The tag search also requires maintenance by the authors and players to tag the files appropriately to make them easier to find. SgtRoadkill Posted March 4, 2009 Author Posted March 4, 2009 how does one go about flaging mods as certain languages?
LHammonds Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 Look for the "Tags" tab. Most mod pages have the following tabs (although some tabs can be disabled by the author during initial upload) 1. Description 2. Files 3. Images 4. Comments 5. Mirrors 6. Action log 7. Tags
