Interior settlement problem

Recommended Posts

The base form of the workshop workbench (which is Container) requires the keyword WorkshopWorkbenchTypeCrafting.

The constructible objects of the workbenches require the Local Leader perk (Rank 2). Do you use the vanilla workshop workbench? (FormID: 000C1AEB).

I used the base form 'WorkshopWorkbenchInterior' as in the tutorial. It has the 'WorkshopWorkbenchTypeCrafting' keyword present.

The shops, which require Local Leader 2, build as normal, I'll swap out my current workbench to the vanilla one you mentioned.

Tried out my original workshop workbench without a primitive box, without a linked container and without being linked to or being linked by anything, somehow, this allowed me to build workbenches.

I also took a peek at the Home Plate cell and discovered that the cell did not have a primitive box, only collison boxes outside the walls of the home. The lack of a primitive box might somehow be connected to the blocking of crating stations.

You dont need any triggers or markers to enable the build of workbench crafting stations on a standard WorkshopWorkbench.

To validate that simply console [ player placeatme 000C1AEB ] and [ player addperk 001D2468 ] to buld workbench crafting stations (ofcourse dont do this within 10K game units of an existing workshop location).
If that doesnt work your game/install/something is hosed.

I've think I might have figured out what my problem was. In the tutorial, felloutislife links the interior workbench to the container (the bright green box) using the keyword 'WorkshopLinkContainer'. When I removed this link and only had the primitive box (DefaultEmptyTrigger) linked to the workbench using 'WorkshopLinkedPrimitive' and the powerbox linked using 'WorkshopItemKeyword', I was able to build the workbenches.

Could you shed some light onto why the 'LinkContainer' keyword is stopping the construction of crafting stations?

Also, does linking the workbench to the primitive box using the keyword 'WorkshopLinkSandbox' effect the workshop in any way? There is a comment on the video saying that sandboxing is not for the player, is this true?

It's true. Not sure about the WorkshopLinkContainer though, linking the workshop workbench to a container shouldn't prevent you from being able to build workbenches. What container do you use? The WorkshopResourceContainerSettlement? (FormID: 0022BF75).

I might suggest you use the Workshop Diagnostics associated with SKK Workshop Ownership Utilities to test your workshop set up. I'd also recommend going back through the tutorial or try another tutorial as it is easy to overlook things.

Turns out the problem was due to (I think) materials I had put into the linked container in the Creation Kit. With the workshop and the connected container empty, I had no problems putting materials into the workbench and building a crafting table. I'll try out the diagnostics you linked to find any other errors I might have made. Will report back when I've tested it.

WorkshopLinkContainer is a holdover from development when the red Workshop was not a container itself. In the base game some workshops dont have one, some are linked Container > Workshop, others are linked Workshop > Container.

When crafting workbenches (which are also containers) are constructed their storage is repointed at their owning workshop via WorkshopItemKeyword. From your description I would infer that if the workshop storage has been screwed then linked workbenches fail to build as they will have no storage.

used the base form 'WorkshopWorkbenchInterior' as in the tutorial

The "Interior Workbench" (which is different from the normal, red settlement workbench) lets you build a subset of buildable stuff only.

But you can use the red workbench in an interior if you want to.
