Character creation to precede the Opening Scene and greater character customization

Confused why the character creation stage takes place where it does to interrupt the flow of the scene, seems to me it makes more sense to know who you are beforehand.

As for customization, seems like being able to have access to the character sheet, and not just race and appearance, by being able to pick your starting skills makes sense also, with the option to roll a random premade character.

Height customization slider in addition to just weight.

I have found that the console commands allow for greater customization but having to access the console commands to adjust everything instead of the HUD detracts from my overall experience, or first impressions.

Edit:

I just found Phenderix's Project Proteus might be just what I was thinking about but probably won't get a chance to try it for a while.

If you use alternate start mods such as Arthmoor's Live Another Life, you can get your character "dialed in" how you want, and then select the vanilla start option from the Shrine of Mara and at that point, you transition to Hadvar's racial specific greeting after a brief second so you can headcanon thats your character speaking their name.

Usually how I've taken care of that, and get the MCM all sorted on options for that play through, letting things configure and all that before diving into the open world.

Did that skip the lengthy carriage ride, maybe just starting closer so there's less pauses? I didn't mind an introductory portion but I did mind an overly long cutscene. I've just been using it to start as a camper, as you're a short distance away from Helgen and can jump straight through it, though that results in skipping the keep as well.
