TenthLegion
Is it safe to add certain types of mods mid play-through? I understand that there will be a problem if I try to remove them (scripts and other nasty beasts that can mess up my save game). But what about like adding texture mods or weapon mods? or quest mods. Is it safe to add but not to remove?
LargeStyle
Generally speaking, as dedicated texture mods normally replace (not add) textures to Skyrim, the game quite simply won't be "upset" about which texture set is used - as long as the replacer texture set doesn't contain missing / corrupt files. Therefore you can swap textures files around to your hearts content. Weapon mods can be a little different though. Again working on the principles of whether the mod in question adds a weapon or replaces an existing one - things can be ok but sometimes not. Mods that replace or edit existing features / textures / meshes / or statistics for weapons should be perfectly fine to add and remove, but if a you add brand new weapons into the game then any used weapons will have data stored into your savegame. Say you place a new weapon into a chest somewhere in the game and then later on you remove the mod - it may be fine and the item will simply have disappeared from the chest, but (worst case scenario) the game may bug out or even CTD if it tries to call upon an item that no longer exists (a common CTD fault). Chances are that you'll be ok will adding and removing the occasional mod, it's something that we know we shouldn't really do too much, but we all do it once in a while to test things out. But remember that the more you add and remove mods then the more higher chance you'll have of errors or CTDs.

Gotcha, so pure texture mods should be fine, like say, the Skyrim Beautiful followers mod. It replaced the faces of most of the female followers. Im not planning on removing mods this play through, but if i decide I want to add a few weapon mods or so you are saying generally it won't be a problem? BTW thanks for the quick reply and the help!
