Roundabout model creation/alteration

I'm trying to make a small weapon mod which would bring the Railgun from Halo 4 into New Vegas/FO3. I already have a model I got off of blend swap, however I need to modify it. Rather than spend the time it will take to learn how to use blender 2.4x (the .nif scripts don't work with the newest version), I would like to use PTC's Creo Parametric (which I am already proficient with). However, having exported the model from blender into a .obj file, Creo, which is capable of reading .obj files, doesn't see the exported file. Does anyone know why this might be, and/or how to fix this issue?
