Zerocloud411
Hey, so I've read that .png files slow down the game more so than .dds files. Is there any reason I shouldn't convert mods I have that are in .png to .dds? Also is there any specific converter I should be using for quality's sake, or would anything that came up from googling "convert png to dds" be alright? Thank you for your time. Rennn
Sorry for the late reply. It's true that png files are very difficult to run. They often consume 12-15 times the memory of a .dds (I'm not kidding, it's insane). There's virtually no downside to converting to .dds. They are slightly lower quality, but the difference is so small it's not even visible 99% of the time. Definitely convert to .dds. I use Paint.NET. It's free and it offers many options for what type of .dds you want to save the .png as. I've also never had any quality problems saving as a DXT5 .dds with Paint.NET.
