Biding My Time

So I decided to update my Xbox version of Skyrim. 24.5 GB! (also Obvlion had an update for some reason)

Anyway, my completely UNMODDED saves would not load. I didn't bother trying to load up a modded save, probably would have the same result. I'm going to hold off updating this version for now. I'm sure there will be an update soon to fix the update. SKSE along with everything that requires SKSE will be updated and smoothed out soon enough. When that happens I might have to wipe everything and start all over. But until that happens, I have Steam updates locked down, and I have backups of everything I need just in case.

Eventually the anniversary add on will go on sale, at witch point I might buy it.

I'm just biding my time until the time is right.

That's all for now, happy modding everyone!

*UPDATE*

The precautions I took to prevent Skyrim from updating did NOT work. Steam updated the f*cking game anyway, and now I can't play. And the backups I made, are worthless. Downloading the downgrade patcher right now, hopefully it works. But I'm not optimistic. I really don't want to redo everything.

In case it isn't obvious, I'm pissed. Yeah I know it's just a game, that's not the point. I just wanted to relax and play Skyrim when I got home from work. Is that too much to ask?

Had the exact same thing happen. Spent nearly a month putting my LO together... meticulously testing everything... nearly 500 mods installed and working nicely and literally two days later, the update happened. I only knew about it a day in advance and did everything I thought I needed to do to stop it (all the necessary changes in Steam) but still wound up with the update. Loaded up my backup and it didn't work. Overwrote the updated version with my backup and it seemed to work but I was getting CTDs every once in awhile so... trying the patcher now with my fingers crossed. Kind of a dick move the way they rolled this out. I'm sure a year from now, I'll be enjoying... fishing but right now, I just wanted to play the game I spent all of this time modding.

The sad part is that as much as this makes me want to hate Bethesda... when ES6 comes out, I'll be on it like a slavering dog.
