Deleted127869753User
I'm already aware of the handy &PCName; command. But I feel like that has limited use cases. Granted, these use cases are perfectly appropriate to the kind of game FNV is, where there are very few reasons for the PC's name to appear in a note beyond extremely formal examples like bounties or invitations or something. And, at that, the voice acted nature of all dialogue interactions mean that the PC's name is never going to get actually uttered by anyone. However, for a certain idea I've been toying with, I think it would be pretty clunky for the PC's name to show up as "John Smith" as opposed to "John" or "Mr. Smith." Is there any way, through some complicated means, to account for this? I know it's a thing already in Fallout 4, but my worry is that's only due to the engine updates, and is otherwise not technically possible in the FNV engine, extenders and all. Any ideas? Radioactivelad
It would have to be in the realm of the script extender. What I would "simply" do is have a variant of &PCName; that checks for a space, then only displays everything after the space. If no space is detected, just function as vanilla &PCName;. Disclaimer: I know nothing about where to even begin creating a function like that, if it's possible at all. I wouldn't worry about it anyway since, in my experience, very few people give their characters a first and last name.
