One solution to the paradox is that the universe is so utterly teaming with life that any radio signals which are emitted during that period of time that a civilization uses that method (in our case about 200 years), is not only such a limited range, but also gets quickly obscured by other sources or natural interference (like trying to figure out where a raindrop hit a lake by watching the ripples on the shore). Similarly our own signals might be hard to differentiate without knowledge of how we tune those signals.

 

The problem also relies too much on the belief that an alien species would use high power radio signals at all... For example, a species which evolved and advanced in a watery environment would probably have based most of their pre-space technology around sonar or other communication methods that we have not utilized, if any form of mass communication was used at all.

You've got your work cut out for you there then, youtube just seems to host home videos of people who either made or were duped by hoaxes. I haven't seen a single piece of footage that has had me 100% convinced so far because as vagrant pointed out it always (conveniently) visually obscured to the point that you have to really squint at an "extraterrestrial" object until your eyes bleed before it looks semi-convincing, or it's close up and really obviously doctored.

 

It really grinds my gears when footage is presented in documentaries and they feel compelled to zoom in on an object until it's literally a mass of pixels to the point that it's no longer discernible as anything at all, and these are people who are supposed to scientists or ufologists but they don't seem to understand that zooming in on a low res image doesn't exaggerate anything, but instead just annoys me :facepalm:

 

I do believe there is alien life in our universe, whether it's here on earth or not is yet to be seen and WILL have to be witnessed by me first-hand until I am convinced instead of watching a guy being interviewed who "swears to god, his life, and his family" but I still 99% believe he a lying attention-seeking time waster.

 

Nearly every camera sold today is HD, nearly all smartphones have HD cameras, that's many millions of people walking around with HD cameras yet these things are only ever caught by someone with a low resolution garbage camera.

"Where are they?" is the big question, it might be that we just lack the technology to hear them, just as cavemen wouldn't have been able to detect our simple radio signals we may not be able to detect their way of communication.

I have a theory, at one time the video was caught in HD, but the government doesn't like the fact they have such compelling evidence in such quality, so by the time it hits youtube the quality has been degraded to the point it doesn't look legit, even the stuff you see was originally aired on tv was lowered on youtube. There is a lot of youtube HD stuff out there, but everything that has been declassified or the government does not like tries to degrade its legitness.

 

Its one way to try to cover up something that was originally great evidence.

Wouldn't people wonder why their HD video has been degraded? anyway Youtube isn't the only video host and places like Wikileaks certainly wouldn't do that. HD requires much higher production values, your average hoaxer doesn't have the talent or the necessary equipment.

Not if youtube rejects the HD standard on such quality, like disabling 720p and 1080p from being enabled. If the video had multiple resolution standards.

More than likely Youtube itself just degrades the video quality to save on bandwidth as they are known to do with pretty much everything else. The issue however is that even video hosted other places, on closed servers located in other countries ends up being low quality or grainy. The government doesn't need to do anything here, and frankly having any sort of group which would go out of its way to do that would be not only silly, but ineffective since those people would just keep re-uploading the video to preserve quality if it was so compelling. Instead, not one of these videos is mirrored elsewhere at higher quality, or hidden away in some secured ftp server only shared among trustworthy groups. Put simply, any conspiracy here would be impossible to maintain for any length of time...

One thing you can't argue whats been aired on tv, depending what channel its been aired on the host tv station would lose credibility if they aired something like a hoax. Especially if it was aired on discovery or something similar.

People are still going to ask why, if Youtube were doing that it wouldn't have gone unnoticed. It's not just the resolution either, these people all seem to have serious issues with their focusing and keeping the camera still. If these things were flying around in the sky we'd know about it, in this day and age controlling information is near impossible, like leaked documents the videos would be mirrored elsewhere and put on torrent sites.

 

Anyway why would they come here and not do anything? they've not tried to make contact, steal resources or kill us. Why would they travel many light years just to buzz a few people? it doesn't make sense. Also how did they get here? all the theories for FTL travel require massive amounts of energy or in the case of the Alcubierre Drive discharge massive amounts upon arrival, with SETI looking specifically for energy we would have noticed them. I'd like to think there is other life out there and that we're not some kind of freak occurrence but that's completely different to thinking they've been paying us visits.

Reasons

 

!. resources, gathering resources and just visiting because a long trip needs stops just to explore our galaxy

2. Just visiting because they are like us explorers and might have a code like Star trek does when it comes to meeting other Aliens in the universe. You never know they might have a huge system of government spanning several galaxies. If you want to think star trek then they are just waiting for us to gain the knowledge or faster then light speed before they make contact.

3. Aliens are to afraid of us to make direct contact because of our possible war like stance on things.

4. We have made contact just that the government has tried desperately hard to cover their tracks, sometimes fail with leaked footage.
