"iSmallItems" not working as used to

If you edit the iSmallItems value for an armor and then load an existing save game, soldiers already equiped with armor won't have the extra small item slots until you re-equip the armor. Even re-selecting the same armor from the locker will refresh the number of small item slots.

JL is increasing the number of small item slots using the DGC edit for the latest 2.0 beta in Long War so it should still be working.

I tryed to change iSmallItems=2 for Kevlar, Carapace and Skeleton. Then started a new game on normal and its not working.

I think i remember doing it this way on an older version of the game. Now that iv recently started playing agine and have updated it appers to be reading this from someware else, posibly in upk files because i just removed those lines from DGC and still had the same effect.

Not working here either.

I made changes to iSmallItems directly in the .exe using Resource Hacker. I was able to make the arc thrower into a pistol, but my changes to iSmallItems don't appear to do anything. I've unequipped/reequipped to no avail.

Any ideas? Or alternate methods of allowing more small items?

That was easy.

I changed the values in the DefaultGameCore.ini and it worked. Not sure if those values need to be identical to the values inside of the exe (in my case, they are, since I've now changed them both).

In the past, I swear I only had to edit the .exe.

EW represented a switch in philosophy by Firaxis, with an increased emphasis on making more tweaks available via the INI files. (They even moved some value initialization from code to INIs.) Some files, like DGC.INI, that previously had been blocked from fully overriding the 'resource cache', now are permitted to do so by default. Since INIs override the cache, they take precedence.

Every patch carries the possibility of changing how we mod. Moving away from hacking the 'resource cache' is indeed the current wave.
