Summerpaw
Update: Solved! Thanks to trueg and czolee79! Thanks, Mechwarriors! =)Hello, After manually downloading the Yet Another Mech Lab file, I do not know where on my hard drive it is supposed to go to function properly. I am trying to use YetAnotherMechlabMechs (option #2). I have looked (and looked!) but I don't see any directions on the page. I don't see any Vortex options, but I could be missing them. If it isn't clear by now, I am only a gamer and know little about modding. What are the the steps to getting the YAML file to where it needs to be, please? Summerpaw
Update: I've been at this for hours. Following installation instructions on another mod, I have downloaded the YAML mod and placed it into a folder (steam/steamapps/common/Mechwarrior 5 Mercenaries/MW5Mercs/Mods). I have Extracted the zip file. I boot up Mechwarrior 5 Mercenaries (which I've never played before) which I purchased through Steam. Steam has a "mods" option. It is at this stage that I am stuck. I can't tell what the game wants. It opens up the Browse option but it won't take the ".pak" file or any other file it seems to need. This appears to be the last step in getting YAML to work, but I can't tell. What am I missing please? DosEquis
I just open the mods folder of MW5, and place the folder in it. MW5 opens, check the mods list, check the mods I want, the restart. Works almost every time. When I have had problems in the past, it required either figuring out the conflicting mod, or a clean reinstall of MW5. Summerpaw
Thank you for the tip, DosEquis. =) I am using Steam's limited but functional mods using the method you described. =) I am looking forward to learning how to use the MW5 folder method. Downloading the zip files of the mods and extracting the zip files in the Mods folder doesn't seem to work for me and I don't know why. I definitely didn't get a Mods list in MW5 when I tried it but I didn't know to restart the game either. Is that how manually downloaded Nexus mods (not using Vortex) is supposed to work? Are manually downloaded mods supposed to show up in MW5 (the game) or in Vortex?
