Lighting issues (Creation Kit)

I cant seem to get the lighting working, as in the glow when you drag/drop a light there should be the glow of the light (as seen in Ep 9 of the tutorial vids) I get nothing,

They are either clear (ghostly white) or red, I cant find anything that covers this issue, Animate lights and effects is on, Toggle lights makes no difference to me.

Thanks

Not sure what you mean but by pressing "A(toggle light)" you make lights switch on/off in the CK and it works fine for me, maybe you have an old version of the creation kit that is not compatible or something?

The ghostly white light bulb is just the CK telling you there is a light, if its red there is something wrong and the light will probably not work because it wasnt intended for interior or exterior use.

EDIT: ok this is weird, after I activated "animate lights and effects" my lights stopped working as well, I had to restart the CK with "animate light and effect" OFF and only then did "toggle lights" work again.

I'm sorry for necromancing such an old thread but I have the same problem like the thread starter. I could fix it for the creation kit by turning animate lights and effects off BUT in the game they are still either not there or glowing red instead of their original colour. I have no idea what I did wrong (or where I effed up) and so I'd be glad for any help!

Lights should not be red in-game unless you made them red. If they're red in the CK, zoom in closer.

There's also the checkbox in the Render Window Properties dialog that controls the display of shadows in the CK. This box unchecks itself, and will turn shadow-casting lights red.

I didn't make them red. But they're red ingame - and some don't even cast any light at all :( The Shadow checkbox is activated. The only difference I could find between an affected light and an unaffected (newly placed) light is that in ermittance the lower dropdown menu is set to something, for example "FXLightRegionInvertWindowWindhelm" whereas with a new light the dropdown is set to "None". I cannot just change it back to none since the whole world is affected!

I seriously don't know what I did wrong or what to do now... And copying the coordinates of every item I set and building a whole new mod out of these coordinates is a pain in the butt... :(

There are some red lights - you put them in the map and they glow red - are you sure you're not using one of them by mistake? Did you use Ctrl+F to replace your non-red lights with red lights by mistake?

There are also non-light-emitting lights that are really dim but put a tiny bright spot on whatever they're next to - I'm assuming for like candle flame flicker effects on walls and such. I think this is where the dropdowns come into play, as the lights in my mod (including one shadow-caster) are all set to "None".

Which lights are you using? It could be something as simple as "ohhh, yeah. you can't use those for some reason".

No. It's the standard lights that were placed by bethesda that turn red. When I place new ones everything is okay. I didn't use Ctrl+F either.

It's the normal bethesda lights that went red / dim and all lights in the whole world are affected.

*sigh* I think I have to redo the whole house mod because of this. Is there an easier way than coping the coordinates of every object?
