  1. Yep, and my telvanni modders resource will not be on Nexus anymore, it will be offsite and this will be one of its new requirement on the permissions tab: "Permission is never granted to be used on websites that have a none-revocable/infinite distribution license! So for example, if you intend to use these assets and then upload them on a website like Nexusmods that will keep your mod forever, and by extension also keep my assets that you used forever, without any possibility of the choice of deletion, then you do not get my permission to use my assets. My mods are for free, this modders resource is for free, the choice of deletion comes with that freedom. If a website does not grant you the ability to permanently delete your own files, then don't use my resources." Funny how a few years back I had to add this to my permissions tab because of paid mods: "You must release your work to the public for free use and you must never charge any money for it." And Nexus was fighting against that as well, supporting modders, yet now I consider Nexus to be just like Bethesda and their greed, except in a more sneaky and indirect way, at least Bethesda was strait-forward and honest about the whole thing. And no I'm not directly comparing the two situations, but with Nexus its layer on layer on layer which basically gives the end result of earning more indirect profit, so in that sense, I see a resemblance, except authors get nothing in this case, they even lose something they had before.
  2. This is the fourth time I am asking this question: Can we upload for example only an .esp file and then refer to another website where the .bsa file is located that contains all our assets that we made ourself with paid-for programs. First Answer I got from Dark0ne was: "That's up to you" (read second reply in picture) Second time I tried asking this in this thread, it did not get answered and got locked instantly. I did as moderator Pickysaurus instructed me, I asked the question in the thread he referred me to, to which they never gave an answer. So here is my attempting to ask yet again. "That's up to you" certainly is not a "no" "That's up to you" implies to me I can choose, its allowed but its my choice to do it or not, its not a "no", but since every attempt I made to get clarification on this got totally locked and ignored I'm starting to wander whats going on. I'm about to confirm my deletion form and I would very much like Staff to confirm we can indeed do this, so that I will not base my entire deletion form on a lie. And may I remind Nexus that there are already tons of mods on Nexus that refer to other websites with links for files the users must get in order for the mod to work, simplest example would be SKSE for Skyrim that almost all mods with advanced scripting require, that too, is an offsite requirement that basically ALL users must get for most mods to function. SKSE is just the simplest example I could come up with, it in fact has its own page here on Nexus too, with 0 files and a link to their offsite location, there are many, many more mods that link to offsite resources for various reasons.
  3. They edited their original news post and added a link on top, I also was expecting a new news post to appear tbh, I'm sure many people who read that original news post will never know about this new deletion form thats only going to be valid for 2 weeks. https://www.nexusmods.com/news/14538 Regardless, can Staff please clarify my question, I'm both excited and scared right now.
  4. If I enter a mod page and then select "all files", will the mod page still be there (with 0 files) and can I add a new file on my own? Or will the entire mod page be deleted? I really hope the mod page won't be deleted...
  5. One can only wander why Nexus is in such a rush to push and force this all through all at once, I'm sure they have a nice answer for everything though, its all been in the making for the last 2 years... Regardless, I'm not going to spend anything on Nexus, I already paid them enough with some of my mods while getting nothing in return aside from them trying to claim the files as theirs for infinity, very nice.
  6. Excuse me, do you even know what your talking about? I don't want to nuke all my mod pages and lose years of history, endorsements, comments, and tons of links from other mods and videos and translations all linking to those mod pages, this is neither good for me, neither good for Nexus, and especially not good for users who will come across those mods/videos/translations only to click on a link that brings them nowhere. All I want is to remove a few files without having to lose a single mod page. That is why I stick around, because Nexus took away the delete function in secret, not allowing me to put my own house in order, and then giving this ultimatum of "surrender or nuke", neither of those 2 options in their ultimatum is acceptable to me. Don't blame us for Nexus putting us in a trap by removing all other options in secret and then making it exactly like a hostage situation with an ultimatum, go talk to them instead, they caused this, not because of mod lists, but because of the way they force it all and strong-arm everyone. You know that if Nexus announced in ADVANCE that the delete function would be gone, lets say 1 month before they actually did it, 90% of the people leaving comments wouldn't be here and fixed on their own what had to be fixed, choose for themselves what the best options would have been. Now, we cannot even do this, we are stuck between 2 options, and both are just bad. But I know, just another case of "blame the modders" instead of actually thinking about it properly.
  7. I Propose A Theory Too: Its all about the money: 1. Vortex new feature: MOD LISTS! 2. Premium for easier use on Vortex 3. Don't allow mods to be deleted so mod lists will ALWAYS be available, given even more value to Vortex, more incentive for people to get that Premium. 4. Increase Premium price 5. Implement that "EDIT" in the TOS and do whatever you want with all the mods in case you get another fancy idea in the future 6. profit ! Modders can no longer take away their mods, its all in Nexus' hands, and now they can even edit the mods, ding ding. Oh wait, that's not a theory, 80% of what I said is already confirmed Dark (Robin) himself.
  8. probably a misquote he did, but I agree with Arthmoor, this anti-author mentality just because certain people think everything is for free, forever, and how dare a modder take down hes own mods, its helping nobody. Be grateful for the mods you get for free, so should Nexus without taking away control and doing a 180 on one of their core tenets, which has always been to guarantee that modders control their own mods, nobody else. I for one will never upload new mods on Nexus, but I will try my best to keep my current mod pages up and running, but only if certain files can be removed so I can retain all my rights over my own mods. We will see how that turns out on monday since some Staff finally told us they will have a conversation about this specific subject, perhaps we will get different options besides this ultimatum of "surrender or nuke". Lets hope, cause I don't wanne nuke, but if push comes to shove I'll have to, unless other options are put on the table so I can still give users the best experience possible while also keeping my own rights and control over my own creations.
  9. Just wait, exactly that will come along, perhaps not until after Nexus' ultimatum is over, but so many are fed up with Nexus at this point and all we want is a good home to display our work and that respects authors wishes. Sad that Nexus is pushing me to do what I never even wanted to do to begin with...but thats the only option I have with their ultimatum. Ive set my own deadline and if by then nothing changes I will do what needs to be done, I never liked bullies, never did, never will.
  10. Because everyone is doing it to authors as well, even Nexus, just because a few modders "might" take down their mods we now have to paint all modders with the same brush and remove their function to delete and take away their control over all modders, just because of what a few "might" do. And no I don't paint all users with the same brush, but I totally understand why. Stop guessing, Robin said himself on Discord he will do exactly that, hes going to increase the price for premium so... But then he also said he will wait a few months with this since if he will do it now things will explode even more, and then of course he blamed modders for their "conspiracy theories", so its best to let modders cool down, so he says. Just go on their discord and search comments from "Dark", its all there.
  11. Unless...its very well thought out and Robin uses all of this as an excuse to simply grab as many mods as he can, why else would he take away our "delete" function 3 days before even telling us he did it on purpose. And then he gives an ultimatum and we all need to pretend its "grace". Actions speak louder than words, and hes actions are very clear. Mod lists = grab all mods. Ultimatum = keep only people who are compliant. If this wouldn't be the case, then why are the no other options for us to choose from like remove only a few specific files, why the hostile act of 'surrender or nuke', and why removing delete function in secret so we couldn't even react, if he was truly honest and did in fact do this all "for the benefit of the users" he would have told us all about it a month in advance before removing the delete function so we could have chosen for ourselves what the best option would be and which specific files we did not want them to have and which files we wanted to keep on Nexus, instead he puts us in a trap with an ultimatum. The option to nuke and have a modder remove all their mods instead of only a few specific files, not to mention all those youtube videos and other links referring to the mod pages will all be broken as well, so how is any of this to the benefit of the users exactly... So this whole facade that its all done "for the betterment of the users, the community" falls flat on its face, its just an excuse.
  12. I'm also a mod user, and a mod author, I do not hate users, in fact both my biggest and most popular mods are only there because of users giving me great feedback, sure most of it were silly ideas, but some ideas were great and I consider my big mods to be a collaboration of many minds and not just my own. This went even to the point where a few users offered to help me with issues I was having, and if they could prove they had modding skills I would even let them, this was especially true when it came to scripting which I can't do at all and have no intention of learning, yet users helped me to further my mods to perfection. I might have been the driving force, but they were my fuel, and I will always keep my mods on display somewhere, as long as I feel its in good hands and as long as the "option" for me to have the last say over my mod files is guaranteed, I see this as my basic author right since its my intellectual property. I will never use this option to remove my files as long as my rights over my own creations are respected, they can even be used in mod lists, but Nexus went total tyrant from just one day to the next, taking away this option from me to have the last say over my mod, and I feel its not a safe place to have my mods on display here anymore, if Nexus can do this, I can only wander what they might do in the future. Of all the possible and humane options they could have given us, they went with the one I consider to be the equivalent of a hostage situation, with a gun to my head threatening me to give all my files, or lose every single mod page, every single endorsement I ever gotten, and lose everything I did on this website for the last 10 years. That to me is plain wrong, I'm still hoping Nexus will stop this behavior and let us choose to delete only a few files during this "grace period" without removing entire mod pages so we can put in different files and refer to other websites where the full mods can be found. That way we still retain our current mod pages with all endorsements/links/history/etc intact, or perhaps other options that offer a "middle ground", as long as it doesnt involve totally nuking everything simply because we don't want a few files to remain on Nexus. But so far it all seems to fall on deaf ears.
  13. Profile, manage ignore prefs, add TexMex477 Can I kindly ask you all to do the same, I don't know why you are all feeding the trolls when you know it only makes them come back for more.
  14. He wouldn't be able to pay for any of it if it wansn't for authors putting mods here, the very same people who he now gladly throws under the bus by removing their own control over their own creations. Explain this to me: why are we not allowed to remove only a few files, why is there only one option to nuke literally everything? Ive got mod pages with thousands of endorsements, but I need to nuke everything, all the history, comments, links other people put to my pages, other mods that need my mod to function and also link to my mod, all because I want to remove only a few files. Nice rules...
  15. Even if people claim not that many mods will be deleted, the trust that always was here is now gone, we trusted Nexus to do the right thing, to respect author's right to choose if, when and where they will distribute their own creations and have full control over it. Nexus no longer has this trust, they made a 180 in secret and even removed the ability for us to delete 3 days prior even telling us, they have been planning this for 2 years... Always look at the actions, they speak louder than words, why would decent authors even upload on a website that takes control of their own creations they worked years on, for all we know Nexus will just make up new rules and do something like this in the future again, perhaps even worse, and then force it on everyone once more with an ultimatum of "surrender or leave" instead of giving decent options to choose from, or maybe they won't even give an ultimatum next time at all... Trust is one of the most important things in the world, its one of the founding blocks that made Nexus great, we could always rely on them to do the right thing...good old days...
  16. Totally the same for me, I see my creations as art, I want to share it, it has to be on display! But not to some greedy people who tell me I can't even control my own art anymore. For me Nexus went from THE place to upload and get mods, to "avoid uploading there at all costs".
  17. Read the whole post instead of snipping only a small part out of it and then leaving a snark reply of just 5 words, really mature. I'm pondering whether I should put you on my ignore list since all you seem to do is argue for the sake of arguing, at least I'm trying to make some valid points instead of just berating other people over every little thing they say (aside from Nexus at least, but those are corporate employees and the sole cause of this whole mess).
  18. yes a stupid question but I'll answer anyway: 1. I will retain my own rights over my own mods this way, so no site like Nexus can claim it for themselves and distribute it forever, or edit my mods, its all in their TOS, they can literally do what they want with your mod, I even asked them what would happen if I would get banned and then send a GDPR request to remove all my data, and their answer was that they would "unlink" me from my mod, like remove my name and everything else that makes me the owner of my mod, effectively making my mod "ownerless" but they will keep distributing it. Also just think for a moment, you can get banned by a moderator "at their discretion", you lose all access to your mods and get 0 compensation at this point, no donations points, nothing, while Nexus will still keep making a profit from the content of a person they removed all access from, that in itself should break the TOS since it no longer gives both parties an agreement that benefits them both, only one party will benefit while the other gets nothing, and yet Nexus claims otherwise and will proceed with their immoral and disgusting actions. 2. My mods are unique, go look around and who else put in all the effort to build new Telvanni interiors and build an entire Telvanni player tower with all whistles and bells and an entire town around it....nobody. And Lakeview Extended is also pretty unique, so don't for a second think anyone can just rebuild all of that, the way you think about mods being replaceable is very basic and shows a lack of understanding (and respect) on how long it takes and how much effort it takes to build something big and magnificent from scratch. I even had to pay for MAX3DS out of my own pocket to make those interior meshes, imagine that, paid for programs to build assets and Nexus runs off with them all and can do with them as they please, yeah i don't think so. 3. "Being user-hostile is generally perceived as a bad thing", I would never have wanted to do these things, to protect myself from this kind of hostility towards authors, but I have 0 choice in the matter since Nexus gave me an ultimatum of "surrender in 30 days or leave", so don't blame me for their forced ultimatum, I really wish I had other options to pick from, but I don't. And how dare you asking me to surrender just so its more convenient for you, be frigging happy that you get a big mod that took 2 years to build all for free, but your too lazy to download some files from another website and then call me the hostile one. You want convenience? Go to McDonalds and die of heart-disease in your 40's, or you can put in some effort and make decent meals... Clearly you prefer the convenience. 4. many other mods and translations depend on my mods, if I were to totally leave they would have a hard time finding my files, if I remake new mod pages with an "incomplete" mod and people have to go to another mod site to get the "other part of the mod" to get the complete mod, it would still be better and easier for them since they can still find my mod pages on Nexus and know what to do, as opposed to randomly searching on the internet or google wandering where the heck my mods went, and they need my mods for their own mods to function. So in this manner I try not to totally screw over the people who need my mods for their mods/translations to function, and again, don't blame me for this, blame Nexus for not giving me any other choices to pick from. So your telling me I'm hostile while all I'm trying to do is make it easier for people and still retain my own rights over my mods, but your the one telling me what I need to do and leave, your joking right...and then you wander why some authors get so fed up with entitled people like you. I thought Nexus was my home, an art gallery that displays my art but its still my art and my choice what happens to it, this made me feel protected and I would have honestly never deleted my files, no way, not after all the hard work I put in them and not after more than 10 years of Nexus keeping its word and building trust. Nexus broke that trust big time, they simply cannot be trusted anymore to keep their word, they even removed the ability for us to remove files 3 days prior to even announcing they did it on purpose, we were all thinking it was a bug... only to find out later it was intentional and then they give their ultimatum... Don't blame me for Nexus pushing me away and having to resort to these ridiculous precautionary actions to protect myself, all because I stand for the values that Nexus used to stand for, and if you don't understand what I mean by that then read my signature.
  19. Don't use that function then, I would just say in the description where people need to go and give them an URL, and if Nexus wants to censor and make new rules where you can't leave links to other websites(which they have already done for certain sites), then just leave a .txt file in your download file where the URL is located that people need to follow. Yes its inconvenient, yes people will have to learn how to manually install mods, and we have Nexus to thank for it.
  20. Files that does not make the mod work on their own, as in, Nexus can't claim the mod since its incomplete and people need to manually go to another site to get the full mod. All content in the .bsa file that is created by authors should be strictly hand-off to Nexus since its likely to contain assets created with paid-for programs that Nexus has no right to claim for distribution for infinity... Also you could have given us the option to delete a few files while keeping our mod pages, nothing about this whole situation gives any lean way towards authors at all, all or nothing ultimatum, no wander so many (including me) are angry, especially since you removed our ability to remove our files 3 days prior to even announcing that you did this, thats clearly done with malicious intent to not give us any other options aside from your ultimatum.
  21. I've always had my username in the metadata for my mods. That is considered personal data, so they would be legally obligated to delete the files. Unless they pull a sneaky one and edit it out of the files, which would be all kinds of nuts, but they can do it according to their ToS. Ive got 90% of the items in my mod that I altered or created myself named with "Ac3s", so I'm still left wandering how Nexus can even pretend that a GRPD request means they will remove all connections to my mod and make it ownerless when they would have to rename all those items manually and that would leave the mod utterly broken. I'm really starting to think its all just lies to keep us in confusion so we don't take any actual action, because its hard to defend ourselves if they keep telling us we have nothing to defend ourselves with, but I believe GDPR if your an EU citizen is exactly that because its meant to stop online abuse of your data, exactly like what Nexus is doing right now, and mods are the modders intellectual property and we own our mods, as Nexus confirmed, so their TOS and their "infinite license" cannot possibly hold up against EU law specifically created to stop this kind of abuse. Also an "infinite license" almost always gets thrown out of court immediately because it means one side is always beholden to the other side, such terms always boils down to one side getting all the benefits while negatively impacting the other side and thus it simply doesn't hold up. But then again, I'm not a lawyer so what do I know, all I know is they cannot possibly remove all my connections to my mods because they are RIDDLED with my name all over them...
  22. I think the main lesson we can learn from this all is the following: Only put a .txt file or something similar, perhaps only an .esp file if its a mod that also needs other files, here on Nexus. But then refer to another website where people can download the other part of the mod for it to function, or just put the entire mod on the other website if they arn't bullies like Nexus regarding authors rights over their own files. The main reason why Nexus is doing this, is because they don't have real competition, they always lured in everyone with their lies about "this is an art gallery, but its your art to do with as you wish" while now they claim all the art for themselves, if I cannot control my files anymore, then Nexus claimed them, I don't care what they say with their "license" and how its legal and how they didnt claim anything, thats just fancy words so they can "pretend" they did no such thing while in reality they did claim my files. Even if I would send them a GDPR request they would purge everything linking me to my mod files, effectively making the mod "ownerless" and still distribute them, how immoral is that, a license to distribute mods that no longer have an owner, that is such a one-sided deal that it cannot even be legal anymore because its exactly the same as some Asian site just stealing my mod and putting it on their website. But yes, I know, we shouldnt talk like that, we should all focus on how nice Nexus is...
  23. Lol euph, that honestly made me laugh really hard, thanks.
  24. Do you guys think anyone is reading all the quoting your doing, you quote 5x more than you type as a reply, sometimes not even that and just a one sentence or a 3 word reply, just reply normally, maybe Nexus can also remove that darn quote button since its inconvenient for all the users to read all the useless quotes...
  25. you guys need to learn how to ignore and not reply to certain people, this is the exact reason why the GMs close posts, you give them the excuse they are looking for to close all discussion regarding this topic because you keep going in circles. If someone wants to act dumb, just let them be, don't give the attention they so crave nor give the GMs the excuse they want.
