McLeod63
Ah, I'm so frustrated with my pc at the moment. As I'm playing a game on it, every now and then it freezes, then the screen goes all fuzzy (like a tv with no reception), then it goes black with a little message ("no signal" or something, it's gone within a second, then I get another message ("Input: D - sub" or something), then it might go back to normal if I'm lucky...most times it doesn't though and I have to start the game again :wallbash: I think this all started after I played around with my ATI settings....I think I did something very bad :whistling:Could someone pleeease help me out? Halororor
Oooh. Happened to me once too. I might not be able to help, but post all your current settings and it might make it easier for somebody to help you. Good luck, I know PC problems are horribly frustrating. Thor.
Hmm interesting maybe its your Monitor or vga cable acting up, or what ever you use. Out of range, most cases usually is the cable or monitor. Those symptoms don't sound like a video card issue.
bben46
What it sounds like is you are loosing the video signal. First, try the easy fix. tighten up the video cable on both ends, make sure the power cable to your monitor is tight. Then check your computer (not Oblivion) video settings. Make sure the video setting you have is supported by your monitor. Especially the frequency. Running a monitor at too high a frequency could damage it. normal frequencies are 50, 60 & 75Hz. nearly all monitors can handle 50Hz. most can take 60HZ, newer monitors can handle 75 with no trouble. Any other settings you should check your monitor specs to see if it can run them or not. If you can, either try another monitor, or try that monitor on another computer. The problem could be the video cable, video card, Monitor or computer power supply.

McLeod63
Thanks bben46!I think changing my display settings down to 60HZ may have actually worked. I thought I had a late model moniter though =/I also tightened up a few cables also. Lets hope one of them was the problem, can't be too sure yet though. Thanks again
McLeod63
Ah crap. Although I haven't yet had that little issue since I changed my settings, I'm still having another problem, one I forgot to mention. Sometimes while playing a game, these vertical lines will appear on the whole screen covering everything. I can't do anything but restart the computer. I don't suppose you good people know what the hell is happening do you?

That sounds like the Video card, either over-heating or going out if it's the over heating a can of air may help. if it's the other you'd need a replacement
McLeod63
Jeez, I hope I don't need a replacement, I only just bought it last year! What's a healthy temperature for a card?
Halororor
I'm not entirely sure, but I'd say anything above 50 degrees celsius is dangerous. Mine overheated a while ago and I had to replace it. With mine, whenever I started a game the textures would disappear and be replaced by random colors, sometimes with the game also freezing up. Just check, an upgrade might not be such a bad idea, I bought myself a Geforce 9500 GT for about $100, which in South Africa is really cheap, and it's not a bad card either, can play most of the newer titles on high - highest graphics.
