Bodyslide! Have I got this right?

Sorry I am an old Oblivion die hard. But can you really create the figure you want and then fit armor and clothes around that mesh? If so that is truly amazing! No Blender, no 3dsmax, I find it hard to believe but as I have had a go at it, all you need to do is get those meshes into the Creation Kit, register them and your good to go, I think?

Not quite. The CK would just be used to get the outfit in-game, just like any other new thing you want in your game that isn't just replacing something. To make something appear in BodySlide, you'd have to use it's companion utility, Outfit Studio.

 

BodySlide is for mod users, primarily. Open it up, select the body/outfit, select a preset (or use the sliders to create your own) and then click the Build or BatchBuild button and BodySlide will automagically create and install the reshaped meshes into your game.

Outfit Studio is for mod makers. It is the tool that allows you to make outfits/bodies BodySlide-compatible, or edit many other kinds of meshes, but in an easier way than with 3DS/Blender (although lacking certain features) as you can just inflate/deflate meshes as required.

Yes, you can build your body using a supported body model (CBBE, CBBE-3BA, UUNP, BHUNP, etc) and a correlated Bodyslide preset (cannot use a UNP Bodyslide preset for a CBBE body model, etc) using Bodyslide, and you can fit most clothing made for that body model (those created properly without errors one one sort or another) to them, as long as you don't get too extreme with your adjustments to a preset, (at least some clothing and armor seem to have certain limits to their "stretchiness") and/or don't think you're going to import some bizarre custom non-humanoid creature and expect it to wear a bikini made for a humanoid female, etc.

 

As for CK, idk, I don't use it.
