No confusion here, East is in relation to the earth, right is in relation to a person. Simple English definitions.

 

Let me help you. You are walking along a path heading south and someone says "turn right". Or someone says "turn East". Can you not see those are opposites?

 

P.S. I'm 46 and passed my Geography exam a long time ago.

 

Every map I have seen, east is on the right......

 

 

Who said anything about maps? I was told "to YOUR right". I'm actually facing NW when at my computer.

Depends on where the projection is centered. If the North Pole is the center, then east is on the right at the near side (bottom) of the map and on the left on the far side (top) of the map.

 

Not that it matters, since context is more important in this case.

 

 

If you're stood at the north pole and told to walk east....
