Slaiv
Well, as long as they're going to make it more action-like, let's hope they make it intuitive, like Ubisoft has done with Prince of Persia 2. [if you haven't experience the Free-Form fighting engine, get the demo here.] Just for clarification, I don't mean make the combat engine like POP2's, I mean as intuitive as it. handsomestranger
"Right now we're working on our dynamic compass that will show you how close you are to dungeons while wandering the forests or where the person is that you need to talk to make a quest progress," Instead, the game will include a revised fast travel map that will hopefully eliminate a great deal of the annoying repetitive travel over long distances. i just don't like these ideas...i don't want something to tell me where i need to go next or a magic device that beams me directly to any location in the game...the best part of morrowind, for me, was wandering off aimlessly trying to find something to do...it just isn't the same when i'm walking around and i see a little green dot blinking on my map telling me who to talk to for the next quest... i just don't think it will be as easy to get immersed in a world with "improved fast travel" and a magic map that tells me where to go... lame... <_<
Slaiv
Once again, they're appealing to the average, fat, lazy, ADD American.
Abramul
I think it's more of once you've been somewhere, you can get there faster in the future...there are some places in MW that didn't have any way to fast travel to them, but should. For instance, a certain ideal Imperial town...
Slaiv
If by fast travel, they mean things like the Silt Strider, I'm fine. But if it's like Fable's warp wherever and whenever you want to system, I'll be pissed. But hey, it's just a game - it's not like the world is over. It'll likley be fun anyway, so I'm done complaining. For now. :bleh:

I highly doubt they would just stick in a 'warping' type of feature, as that would break too far from the lore, which is something they definitely WON'T be doing. Slaiv
Well, to be [un]fair, they are going mainstream. Mostly to Americans, and they know how fat and lazy most of us are, as well as how short most of our attention spans are. They are going to take these into consideration. handsomestranger
i think what bothers me more than anything is the dynamic compass...just imagine how different the experience would have been if the first time you went to balmora, instead of having to find caius cosaides on your own, an arrow had pointed you to him...not only does this make the game feel about 100 time less realistic, but maybe you didn't even find caius the first time you went to Balmora..maybe you played the game for 20 hours or more before you ever even began thinking about the main quest..it'll be hard to do that when the compass keeps trying to push you in a certain direction.. what's the point of having a game where you can "go anywhere and do anything" if the game tells you where to go and what to do? bah..anyway, i know i'm not the first person to rant about this kind of thing...i just hope it can be modded (i'm sure it can), removing all the 'mainstream' features...
