Oblivion vs. Fallout 3

Played both, extensively and Oblivion is still calling me back into it, instead of FO3. Oblivion had it's problems(And still has.), but FO3 has so many bugs(Far more than I've ever noticed in Oblivion.) and reasons that may cause for it to randomly crash, not to speak of patches bringing up even worse bugs.(VATS anyone?)

Oblivion has a much greater re-play value due to the sheer amount of quests and secrets to find.(Took me far over 300h to finish the game, instead of just 47h in FO3. Figures speak for themselves.) The open endedness of Oblivion was something FO3 lacked/lacks, as in Oblivion it was there to begin with, as were many other things, whilst in FO3 they force you to pay for getting that content.(Thank god for mods on that!)

The way the distribution of the DLC's is done in FO3 is a major mistake on part of Beth(GFWL...) and hopefully they'll rectify that by releasing a CD with all the plugins in one disc. Even though the addons in Oblivion weren't all that great, at least they were relatively easy to have access to.

In my opinion Bethesda failed everything apart from two things in FO3;The landscape and letting the people mod it.

The entire game was hastily released, with very little content, using a game engine that doesn't suit the playstyle Beth intended to implement.(Works in Oblivion, not here.) The only reason I haven't shelved FO3 yet is that the great modders in our community provide the badly needed "bandages" to this crippled game.

Since I'm limited to a laptop computer, here... Oblivion will run on my laptop. Fallout 3 won't run (my chipset isn't supported for Fallout's graphics, even though the laptop is less than a year old).

Therefore, I vote Oblivion.

That is strange. I have a 6+ year-old PC and FO3 runs better on it than Oblivion...although both are on just about the lowest settings. ;)

As far as which one I like better, I will of course lean heavily to Oblivion since I like the swords and armor theme but FO3 was fun to play because of the weapons.

I like fallout 3, because of the many ways to kill something, and the fact that if someone ticks me off, I can blow their legs off and watch them crawl.. But I hate the lack of story in it.

I love oblivion for the story, and the universe itself, but I hate that you can't lop someone's arm off, or disarm them for that matter..

So I am technically at a loss, so I play both.

EDIT: Also, I think i'm gonna lean to Oblivion on this, since it can handle far more mods without crashing than Fallout. If only someone would make it to where you could sever people's limbs!! argh!

Thank you Dezi. Out of curiosity, what is the most current version of that mod? I have an older version, but am looking for a newer one. Of course, I'm feeling a little to lethargic to actually find it for myself... :thanks:
