How does one create new lines for base game voiced characters?

Recommended Posts

Quick question, how does one go about adding voice lines to an already voiced character? Say I wanted to give Nora extra lines of dialogue; I know how to create all the other files needed but I don't what to do to have it actually voice the lines.

Seddon has some excellent tutorials on youtube that deal with NPCs and quests that may help you out.

Sadly, his tutorials seem to be better if you are creating your own voice for an NPC not creating ones for an already voiced NPC/using an existing voice when trying to make custom quest dialogue

To edit: find the relevant dialogue Quest of the Player (i.e. DialogueGenericPlayer). Open the Topic Info (the "voice line record") you'd like to edit (i.e. DialogueGenericPlayer (Quest) >> Misc (tab on quest window) >> Hello (Topic) >> 'Scuse me? (Topic Info)). Do your modifications.

To add: you can add new Topic Infos by opening a Topic or Topic Info Group, then Right Click >> New >> type the Response Text >> OK >> type the file name of your voice file in "Overwrite Filename" (i.e. MyLine for "MyLine_1.fuz").

If the voice file you'd like to add is named MyLine_1.fuz, Overwrite Filename should be: MyLine.

About file names:

MyLine: best if it's unique.

_1: the line index of the Response Text. (If you have multiple Response Texts, the second will have _2, the third will have _3).

.fuz: the file extension. You can also keep the voice and lip files separately: .wav and .lip.
