apmorgan93
Maybe just retarded, but I can't seem to figure this out and it's frustrating. Im new to PC gaming and have never messed with mods or any of the like. And I cant for the life of me figure out how to add the mods to show on the manager. Im trying to put the Iron sights mod in. Read the readmes and all that stuff but Im still completely clueless.
shadowfx78
1. did you download the file? if you didnt do that and remember where you put it2.open fallout mod manager and go to settings and in the options uncheck everything but Disable IPC messaging. and close the settings menu3. click on the package manager4. now click add Fomod and navigate to where you saved your file and click on it and press open5. you will now see your ironsights mod in the window on the left double click it to install6. all done download BOSS to make sure you load order is correct and your all set you can now run the game. apmorgan93
Thanks for replying. Once I hit set 4 is where things get hairy. I made a file on my desktop and designated it for my fallout 3 mods. The problem is when I open the files there is nothing in them that the FOMM recognizes, they're just folders with more folders in them and no actual content. Ive tried redownloading the mods multiple times but Im still having the same issue. I can view all the files when viewing the folder normally, they are .esp files. Do I need to change them into something else? Im also trying to use the real weapon damage mod with no success on that one either. Ok, I just realized that it has to still be in the zipped format in order for it to work. Fired the game up with realistic weapon damage and it worked. However once I put iron sights on fallout 3 immediately stops working when I try to launch the game and I get a message saying that is isnt working and that windows is looking for a solution. shadowfx78
check the load order using the BOSS utility it can be found on the fallout 3 nexus mods website. also grab the utility FO3edit and watch this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uPK7R71zcwM
apmorgan93
This is all kind of going over my head. Ive got like 3-4 different programs installed now for this, and I still cant get the damn iron sights mod to work. Even when I try booting the game with just the iron sights mod it immediately crashes. Just went through the zip file and there is literally nothing inside of it. Its just a bunch folders. The only things in it are the readme, "HuntingRifleScope.dds" and "RH_IronSights_RemoveReticule.esp". Am I missing something? This is turning out to be alot more frustrating than it is fun. But I want to play the game with iron sights because it sucks not having it.
Aonghus
RH_Ironsights is a tricky mod to install properly make sure you are following the instructions in the readme exactly. Secondly, Do you have Fallout Script Extender (FOSE) installed? If not, you need to get it and install it. (Make sure to read the instructions on that carefully as well, it does not install like a typical mod.) Finally, and I only ask this for the sake of completeness.) Did you toggle Archive Invalidation off and then on again from the main FOMM panel? In addition to mesh and texture issues, it has been known to cause gameplay issues with some of the more complicated mods.
apmorgan93
Well. I never did figure this mod out. The closest Ive gotten is that when I fire up the game I get an item called "gun oil" put in my inventory and I can tweak the amount of gun sway, as well as toggle the blur when Im looking down the sights. But the gun is still in the same damn place and it messes up the texture on the guns for some reason.
