stebbinsd Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 If you have the Skeleton Key and/or the Unbreakable perk, the lockpicking minigame is entirely pointless. Why should you have to actually stick your key inside and fiddle around until you find the sweet spot? Sometimes, a master level lock can take several minutes. In Oblivion, this was slightly less annoying, since you could simply auto-pick the lock, but in Skyrim, you can't take that shortcut. Sure, it's realistic, but then again, imagine if you had to spend an hour with two followers putting on plate armor? Yeah, sometimes your realism really does just need to take a hit for the sake of gameplay. Kind of like the quest marker; for some people, having a quest marker certainly beats wandering around for thirty minutes, constantly recalibrating your course, searching for that one cave that doesn't seem to exist. So, can someone make a mod where, if you have either the Skeleton Key and/or the Unbreakable perk, activating a lock that doesn't require a key would cause that lock to just instantly open? It could be indistinguishable from simply having the regular key, except that you actually gain lockpicking skill XP. Besides, would this really that lore-unfriendly? After all, Mercer Frey was supposedly able to use the Key to open a door that not only required a key, but required TWO keys! Furthermore, It's called the Skeleton KEY, not the Skeleton LOCKPICK, so don't you think it should function accordingly? Now, mods that enable you to craft skeleton keys at the forge... THAT is lore-unfriendly, right there! So, someone please make this mod!
Bozzz123 Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 Sounds like a good idea! Whats the point of a minigame that you can't lose? I am pretty terrible at scripting, but I'll put it on my to-do list. May not get done for a while... so someone else should probably make it.
IsharaMeradin Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 Doesn't remove the lock picking interface but can display a "sweet spot bar" at the top of the screen. Good for when the perks are maxed or when (like me) just sick and tired of trying over and over again. It might be old but it still works even on the latest of patches.KenMod - Lockpick Pro - Cheat
blacksupernova Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 If you want to bypass the picking mini game, I guess adding a perk similar to the Tower Stone which give you the option to instantly open lock would do the trick.
ltknight88 Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 That Ken mod lock pick Pro is what I have been using and it is perfect. Takes 2 seconds to open any lock.
