Thieves Guild Quest Bug.

So I have seen alot of posts around the internet about this bug but I have yet to find anyone with a full solution and I was just wondering if it has surfaced yet. Its the bug where Brynjolf is suppose to take you into the cistern to meet Mercer but instead just say Hmm and when you arrive everyone wants you dead. I have read that not killing the thief in guild master armor right after Helgen will fix it but I have yet to confirm this myself. Currently just restarted and I'm trying to avoid the thief but Hadvar/Ralof always attack him. I have also read that the whiterun 7k mod and the castle grey mod also have to do with this but I have never installed either of these mods. Has anyone found a fix yet?

Can anyone help me out with this? It seems I have somehow turned on the E3 demo, since I have the alpha wolf and the bandit marauder at the start of my game. Sadly it turns out to be game breaking.

I have figured out how to fix the Thieves Guild and College of Winterhold quest problems

 

 

First you have to clean your Master files : see this

 

 

Next you have to create a TES5edit Merged patch : see this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z3Ul301GQXM

 

That is it.

I have never seen a fix for this problem anywhere and I hope this works for everyone who has experianced this.

I was able to clean the master files with any problem but when I try to make a merge patch, the Edit program says there was an error and editing was disabled. This is what I get in the window.

I have also turned off all of my mods, loaded up Skyrim and didn't run into the thief in the beginning of the game. After turning them back on he showed up again. I will post my load order, maybe there is a known mod that causes it? If not, will cleaning the masters keep the quest lines from at least breaking and I can just ignore the thief and marauder in the beginning?

You have to clean the Mod that is giving the error to be able to create the Merge.

 

And looking at your info you supplied it gives a few clues as to what mod you have to clean.I do not recognize the key words as being any mod I use.

 

When you find the mod , open tes5edit ,right click, select none, pick the mod by itself<make sure that it is the only file selected>and clean it the same steps as the masters

Apply Filter for Cleaning,Remove Identical to Master Records,Undelete and Disable References, save it.

 

After that its WryeBash time

 

 

About that thief, I used to see that thief in every new game I made, he would be in Riverwood or Whiterun. I have no idea what Mod it is related to but I know I never see him anymore.

So I did all of that and fixed everything when it came to merging patches and making a wryebash but to no avail. The thief still shows up. Though all the cleaning and patching should fix all the broken quests that come of this right?

Well I have yet to try the college of Winterhold quests but with the thieves guild, I will complete taking care of business and when Brynjolf is suppose to take me into the cistern he just says hmm. When I actually go into the cistern everyone tries to kill me and Mercer isn't standing in the middle to give me the next quest. I've tried using console commands to skip to the next couple of quests but I'm still considered trespassing and I can't do the side jobs for Delvin and Vex.

I'm having the same problem, and I don't have the Whiterun mod
