Vendettar
Hello, I am new to Fallout 3 and I have only bought the game 3 days ago. I installed some popular mods and ran into an error of each NPC/my character in third person having a 3D red box with a white exclamation mark in the middle over them. I did some research and found out that this can happen when a mesh is missing from the mesh foulder. I believe this came to happen from a mod's mesh files overwriting another mod's mesh file. Below is my load order (no problems with the game besides the red box). [X] Fallout3.esm [X] Anchorage.esm [X] ThePitt.esm [X] BrokenSteel.esm [X] PointLookout.esm [X] Zeta.esm [X] Unofficial Fallout 3 Patch.esm [X] Project Beauty.esm [X] Mart's Mutant Mod.esm [X] Enhanced Weather - Rain and Snow.esm [X] Project Beauty- Broken Steel.esp [X] Project Beauty- Point Lookout.esp [X] WeaponModKits.esp [X] WeaponModKits - OperationAnchorage.esp [X] WeaponModKits - ThePitt.esp [X] WeaponModKits - BrokenSteel.esp [X] WeaponModKits - PointLookout.esp [X] WeaponModKits - Zeta.esp [X] WMKAA12Shotgun.esp [X] Mart's Mutant Mod.esp [X] Mart's Mutant Mod - DLC Anchorage.esp [X] Mart's Mutant Mod - DLC The Pitt.esp [X] Mart's Mutant Mod - DLC Broken Steel.esp [X] Mart's Mutant Mod - DLC Point Lookout.esp [X] Mart's Mutant Mod - DLC Zeta.esp [X] Mart's Mutant Mod - Zones Respawn.esp [X] Mart's Mutant Mod - Tougher Traders.esp [X] Mart's Mutant Mod - Natural Selection.esp [X] Mart's Mutant Mod - Master Menu Module.esp [X] Mart's Mutant Mod - Project Beauty.esp [X] Fellout-pipboylight.esp [X] Enhanced Weather - Rain and Snow in Fallout.esp [X] Enhanced Weather - Radioactive Rain and Snow Plugin.esp [X] Enhanced Weather - Rainbows.esp [X] Enhanced Weather - Weather Sounds in Interiors.esp [X] Enhanced Weather - Sneak Bonus during Storms.esp [X] Fellout-Full.esp [X] Fellout Brighter Nights.esp [X] Fellout-Anchorage.esp [X] Fellout-BrokenSteel.esp [X] Fellout-PointLookout.esp [X] Fellout-Zeta.esp [X] test.esp If I recall correctly the project beauty textures overwrote something from the Unofficial patch (I believe). Test.esp was used to make a merged path in FO3edit. I also used FOSE. I was planning on going back to vanilla fallout and re-installing everything. My question is, what should I do when NMM or windows asks if I should overwrite a mesh?
M48A5
You are correct about the missing mesh. The error symbol you are seeing is caused by a mod not being installed properly, not by one mod overwritting another. There are some mods that cannot be properly installed by NMM, but require FOMM and some mods that can only be installed manually. If in the mod description or ReadMe it says to install with FOMM, that is the mod manager you should use. It it says to install manually, that is the method you have to use. In answer to your question, I always say "Yes" to overwrite.
