How to make blood on weapons?

Hey everyone.

 

Today I was bored, so I made a sword.

However, the one thing I don't know how to do is to make the blood appear on the blade when you strike someone. I am mostly self-taught so I haven't been introduced to this kind of thing. Also, I did a quick search on Google and here on the Nexus, but couldn't find any tutorials on it. The link on the "3ds Max - Read This First" for making weapons in Oblivion is broken, so I can't learn from that (provided it had information regarding blood splatter).

 

If someone could link me to a tutorial or give me a quick demonstration/guide, I'd be grateful. :smile:

EDIT: It seems I did have the blood working, but somehow blood wasn't being splattered on any weapons at all. No worries then! :)
