The latest (official) FO3 patch and our mods??

I have a question regarding the latest FO3 patch "Fallout3 v1.4.0.6" and how it pertains to using custom mods, if at all.

I've been looking for some info on this all over the web and haven't really found anything. I remember with the previous patch, that it DID affect certain mods being able to be used, and mods had to be updated, and if we were creating our own mods, we had to resave them in the GECK to change the timestamps so we would be able to use them.

I currently have not installed the latest patch, and have avoided doing so unless absolutely neccessary based on all of the problems that have arisen due to previous patches. It looks like this latest patch doesn't really change much except for supporting multiple download content and achievements for the pitt, at least that's about the only info I can find on this update.

I guess where I'm going with all of this is I want to know if I download the latest patch, will I still be able to use custom mods that I have downloaded, and also will I have to reset the timestamp on my current mod that I'm working on like I had to do with the previous patch?

I've looked into the fake patch and have concluded that it's not for me since I'm running dual GPUs in SLI.

Ultimately, I'm planning on releasing my current mod I'm working on to the community and I was wondering if downloading the patch or not downloading the patch will affect the ability of people being able to run my mod if they'd like to try it.

Thanks.

Excellent question, but I think you already answered it yourself. LOL.

Experience has taught me, to wait until I know for sure. I learned that lesson many years ago from a company we all love and trust, Microsoft.

its size-intensive but one thing you can try is duplicate your Bethesda Softworks folder and all its contents, then patch. try it out. If it breaks something, delete the folder and replace it with your backup.

Circuitous: Thanks for passing on the info. :)

Skree000: This is one of those slap yourself on the forehead moments, and you say to yourself "why didn't I think of that?" So I'll go ahead and do that. Thanks.

I'll post here later on my results in case anyone is wondering.

;D

Well, I said I would post a reply on what my results were for installing the latest patch (no big deal I know, but just following through).

Installation went off without a hitch. As a matter of fact, it was really quite uneventful. It took all of about 20 seconds to install. Everything works fine, the game plays fine, my mods are working fine and the GECK is fine. So that takes care of that.

Moving on to other things.
