tkdrocker806
I've installed several mods on my FO3 GotY edition (bought through Steam) and I think something in them is conflicting and causing the game to crash. No CTD yet, but when playing it will frequently freeze, sometimes forcing me to open Windows Task Manager to end the process if it doesn't bring up the "Fallout has stopped responding" window. I've managed to pinpoint two files are correlated with it crashing: Covenant Invasion.esm and Covenant Invasion.esp, both from the Halout 3 mod (http://www.moddb.com/mods/halout-3/) which is NOT on the Nexus. If either or both of those files is checked when running the game, it will freeze usually within 10 minutes of gameplay. It has never frozen from the menu screen. I would like to be able to use both without the game crashing as they are what add the Spartan and ODST armor and weapons, as well as several other aspects of the Halout 3 mod. I do not have FOSE as I am unsure which version to install for Steam (I downloaded v1.2, but the readme says "FOSE is not compatible with the original, unpatched DVD or Steam version. Please patch to a newer version.") The mods I have installed areLightsaber 0_9 BetaTsurugi Sword 1-2Unique Junk 2_0Nightshade Pipboy 3000 (no .esp or .esm files; just texture pack)Nuska Women of the WastelandMegaton House and Theme Overhaul V2-8-0 RCJS_SPARTAN (not on Nexus)UWWUT - Unique Weapons With Unique TexturesFat Man Giant Nuke Halout 3 does have a lot of .esp and .esm files. The only two I never have checked are the UNSC Commander.esp and .esm files, since they require Enclave Commander, which I do not have. I will continue trying to resolve the issue on my own, but I would very much appreciate any helpful tips or comments from other users. Thank you! camycamera
steam should NOT conflict with any mods at all. and what the FOSE readme means is, that if you download the normal, unpatched FO3 (NOT GOTY) from steam it wont work. FO3 GOTY comes automatically with the last 1.7 patch that Bethesda released, so FOSE will work (i have steam FO3 GOTY edition and can confirm that it works; i run hundreds of mods on it). other than that, i can't really help you as i haven't played any of those mods, however (i keep on doing this lol) i recommend just to download the UPDATED unofficial FO3 patch (http://fallout3.nexusmods.com/mods/19122//?) to fix any problems that the game may have (mainly incompatibilities with windows 7 and other problems that bethesda didn't bother to fix). also, maybe try to make a merged patch? usually merged patches are for people running large amount of mods, and basically makes them work together. a tutorial for how to make a merged patch is here: http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/881891-merged-patch/ last advice i can give you is, use BOSS: http://fallout3.nexusmods.com/mods/10193//?it automatically sorts out your load order for you, to make sure there is not any conflicts between mods. good luck :D
